Hi there,
I have a 2nd set of 19" Oem wheels that I am planning to run with winter tires... I found a good deal of "Blizzak LM-25 265/35R19" tires for my rear wheels on your website. What I can get for the fronts??? Can I install 265/35R19 to all wheels? What is the cons/pons if I do that? Thanks.. |

I do have a silly question. I will have my OEM 18" wheels to use as winter wheels if necessary, but I prefer not to use them. Are there any options where I can throw on some cheap steelies (that will still fit over the OEM brakes)? I used to do this with my prior cars + Blizzaks and they were great. I wouldn't have to worry too much cosmetically.

You'll definitely have an easier time switching back and forth if you mount your winters to a second set of wheels. With that in mind, yeah, I would go with something other than a second set of 359M both because you may have more options for tires (if you go with 18") and because the wheels are going to less expensive (check the buy/sell forum, or pick up a non-oem winter setup from tire rack).

Personally, I would run a wider tire (as fas as summer tires go) on the 359M since they are a wider wheel than the 220M, but that's a topic for another thread. |

I Have a 2011 M3 Coupe - I would like to get "snow tires" for fall/winter..
I DO want to use VOLK TE37 18" (I have the 19" Competition package OEM on the car right now) or something similar but what tire setup should I use? Staggered or Straight? I'd also like to use Bridgestone Blizzak tires, everyone has been suggesting these for the PA roads.. but if there is better suggestions I'd like to hear them.. any help is welcome and thanked -Christina

Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds are what I will be mounting on OEM 18s, which are my dedicated winter wheels.

Ditto that, you don't need staggered.
I prefer to maintain the OEM look in the winter so that is why I go with OEM 18s.

Just FYI, I did just get recent prices from my dealership about their winter packages.
They offer the Michellin Pilot Alpin PA3's on Double Spoke 270M rims with the TPMS for 1865 euro (excluding VAT if you have the form). Estimated about $2.4k with today's exchange rate. A little too pricey for me... Plus, I won't be driving it much during winter, since my other car has winter tires and I will be shipping my BMW back to the states early so it can meet me there. In all honesty, I think a set from Tirerack is the way to go, unless you are looking for something very specific or OEM. I may be going OEM if I can find the rims and save the money, but it probably won't be until next winter. If I do go with a winter set, it will probably be from Tirerack so I can save some cash

That's including wheels and almost $400 in shipping costs. If you want tires only it will be significantly cheaper. |

another fitment question for Tirerack crew
Hi,
I have a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds from my 2002 911 Turbo in sizes 225/40x18 Front and 265/35x18 Rears. Can I use the 3Ds on my 2009 M3 sedan? I have 18" aftermarket rims 8.5" Front and 9.5" wide rear. I know stock size for the M3 is 245/40x18 and 265/40x18 so the rear aspect ratio is 35 instead of 40. Will that make a difference in performance in the wet and dry? How about if I use the 265/35x18 tires that I have in the rear and get 2 - 245/40x18 or 235/40x18 3Ds for the front? The 225s seem kind of narrow. Or do I go with 235/40x18 all around as BMW recommends? Thanks! Paul |

Any updates from guys who used the staggered set-ups on 18's last winter?
About to pull the trigger on 235/255 Dunlop Wintersports 3D on VMR VB-3's. I'm waffling between this and the 235 square set-up. Anyone had both? My '11 e92 ZCP is my daily driver and I'm looking for some last minute advice. |

I've been running stock sized PA2's on stock 18s for two winters now. No issues. No experience with a non-staggered setup for comparison though. I favor keeping wide rubber in the rear even in winter because when its dry I want the traction.
