Just saying that the 4Lt (or 4LZ, I don't remember) with the upgraded interior is typically packaged with magnetic ride suspension, giving it a slight advantage over the base Z06. I remember you from corvetteforum, I had the Torq RTC-650 Z06 with h/c/i and was in the middle of the shitstorm regarding the valves lol

We all know an M3 can't compete against a Z06 stock for stock and virtually everybody here is into modding, plus there is a robust aftermarket platform for the M3. I bought my supercharger before I even had my M3. There are quite a few out there like me that wanted supercar performance and will get it with what we do to our M3's. From my vids above, I have accomplished that for the roll-on events. I'm address the track aspect (handling/braking) next year.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWW7vzxEhNo You are easily going to need a built motor with a bigger blower and a built DCT transmission to keep up - which has never been done on the S65 platform thus far. Last edited by erm324; 12-18-2012 at 02:27 PM.. |

Track #s dont lie 'Ring times Z06 - 7:22.68 M3 GTS - 7:48 Regular M3 - 8:05 I just dont see what you could do to close in on that gap. To be fair one is a GT car and the other is a sports car(performance wise a supercar)

Taking power to weight into consideration, my car should be able to run with a ~ 530 RWHP Z and as you know, they don't make that stock. Heck, I would have been happy just to run with a stock Z06 but the fact that I ran with two modded ones was nice. By the way these Z's both ran/beat a ZR1. Quote:

The right lane seemed worse to me but on this run it didn't matter as we both spun a little bit but stayed side-by-side until about 130 mph where I began to creep ahead.

The thing about vettes is that you see them so often you will see more vettes in a day than m3s its sweet and one of the best NA cars to build just the unique factor isnt there

I'm going through the same right now... do I get a E92 M3 or C6 Z06.
The car will see HPDEs at least 5-6 times a year... which is concerning to me given these engine failures (valve guide) are becoming far too common nowadays, specially to tracked cars. Having owned a C5Z (and modded to 440rwhp), yes the power can be very intoxicating. It'll be a DD, but my commute is easy and short... I have been leaning towards the Z, but the engine issues are worrisome. Straight-line speed is not my priority, though torque is always fun. The handling, the fun aspect, is what I'm looking for. We'll see...

Somebody school me. How did the Z06 manage to squeeze out a 1.4-sec better lap time than the ZR1 around Laguna Seca? Too much power in the ZR1 and loss of traction?? Better balance in the Z06??
EDIT: As I typed that, I read that a new record was set by the ZR1 last week with a 1:33.70. New SRT Viper clocked in at 1:35.77. |
