Probably. Maybe the iDrive CAN commands are slightly different for the X3 F25 and so the Mr12Volt box is not able to filter them out in CarPlay mode.

At long last there is no real support and it seams like Mr12Volt is not really interested in spending time into this issue, so I ended up sending the unit back.

Hi,

So i have had my M3 for about 6 months now, and when i got the car it had this android 11 sytem but i soley used it for carplay, the sound was very average, it actually always sounded better when i conncted to aux directly from the phone, instead of this android system conncetd in the aux.

Im thinking of installing this mr12volt system since it claims it has better sound quality, only thing im worried about is this, some ppl have said when they press the M button system reverts back to origianl idrive, is this the case?

Also i have an 08 so it has the CCC system, wondering if any upgrades were made to this system from mr12volt since previous versions, or is only the CIC system which most people have.

Lastly is there a reputable shop in NYC/Long island that can install this.

CIC version has worked fine for me. No problems that haven’t been noted or resolved with firmware updates. Have no idea about CCC or cars other than M3, can’t speak for their experience

There is a CCC version and most (not all, but most) have had good experiences. The updated unit is available for both.

As far as shops, any reputable car audio shop can do it. It's really not too difficult, and most do it themselves in a few hours. hardest part is feeding wires without pinching the fiber optic line (very important). Coding the CD player is easy, just requires the right software.

Thanks for the reply guys, was just curious to see how much better the original system is compared to this android, so i picked up a CD from target, and what a diffrence it is, its almost like there is half the bass being left out on that android and the clarity is improved as well.

The 12Volt unit isn't full android.

CD quality is the same coming from these units as long as you are using the same source quality.

You are likely referring to android units that use AUX connections, those are known to have bad audio SQ.

I can really NOT recommend to buy anything from Mr12Volt.

After the CarPlay module was not compatible with my X3 F25 (see my video above and posts from other X3 F25 owners) I sent the unit back (as they told me via WhatsApp).
But they didn't send me back my money. I wrote them on WhatsApp but since I was asking for the refund, they just didn't answer anymore.
Now I had to report an incident on PayPal and luckily PayPal checked everything and send me back my money.
Funny thing is, on their website they still list the X3 F25 as compatible and I wrote them in their website chat and asked if a X3 F25 is compatible or if there are any known issues and they said NO.
Just another chinese company selling cheap products with bad support.

Just got the cic head unit and radio from a guy parting out his car, want to do the cic retrofit and then do the mr12volt for carplay, but just dont have the time myself. Anyone know anyshop that can do the retrofit and then add mr12volt box in NY/NJ

Hey guys... Sorry if this was asked previously. Just did an install of the latest version. Can't seem to see the backup sensor screen enable during reverse engagement but hear the sonar. Any help would be great!

I been trying for two straight days to get the latest version of Mr.12 Volt box with OEM microphone support to work (https://www.mr12volt.com/products/p2000-cicmm). For the life of me I cannot get it working. My girlfriend is pretty mad. We planned a nice weekend together, but I ended up spending it in my car instead

Anyway, I am starting to suspect the coding with BimmerCode is not working correctly on an E89. If I connect the box, BimmerCode disables the Headunit-option. The only way to code it was was to disconnect Mr. 12 Volt and code with standard setup, then reconnect the carplay box. Initially CDMM_CHANGER_3 showed mmc. I changed it to mp3_cdc and coded that successfully. But nothing seems to change. The CD/DVD menu still lists 6 DVDs, none of them selectable. Hence Car Play can not be activated. The optical cable is attached as in option 1 in the attached illustration (unmodified cable). I tried various coding options, nothing works.

I then tried to disconnect the DVD Changer entirely using the loop connector shown in option 2. I have the DVD Changer in the glovebox, so it should not really be necessary, but I did it anyway. No change.

Everything else in the system works as normal, so I don't think I have any of the cables wrong (all provided cables are installed). I can see the Mr. 12 Volt listed on the bluetooth list on my phone, so it is active and operating.

As I mentioned earlier, can it be the coding with BimmerCode that is not complete? Anything else? Help would be immensely appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

Sounds like your MOST loop is not complete somewhere.

In the settings, select After Loading Track.

You are 100% correct. This is embarrassing. I plugged the optical into the
the wrong harness slot, so it did not go into the head unit. I think I checked everything else at least 3 times. Anyway, working now

Anybody experience “The Black Screen of Death”???

I have had my unit (latest MOST) up and running for over a year zero issues. Today heading to work, using CarPlay put in work address and everything working, switch to Spotify and select station and Boom, Black Scree of Death. Have tried numerous times since always black. Edit and screen is fine radio, menu, hard drive etc…. Also if I shift into reverse backup camera still works fine and so does my front camera.

Maybe have to pull dash and press the full reset button???

I pulled negative lead already for 5 minutes or so and reattached that did not help.

After two days of Black Screen of Death everything works great again. I didn’t do anything. Have no idea what happened or what fixed it. Just happy it works again!

Sounds like a loose connection or a pinched wire. Usually occurs with bumps on road, which cause the wire to pinch or short out if bent.

I opened up Mr12volt today and noticed there are no cables going to the iDrive controller in the center console. Is there any cable missing or do we not need any to the iDrive controller cable with the new OEM Microphone system?

Without having to scroll through 75 pages.. how is the startup and connection time? This unit seems to check all the boxes but startup time is pretty important for me!

Anyone have issues with static noise coming from the speaker. It will still display carplay and show that its playing but its just static noise. I have to toggle it between radio and cd for the audio to come back.
