People talk about the AO52 being shot after 3 track days. I haven't tried them because there is literally zero reason when the RR exists. They aren't going to be faster. They aren't going to last longer, and they aren't going to cost less.

I can get 4-5 days out of a set of RR's (25ish heat cycles). They are typically their fastest right at the end, and when it's over it's over. I like that lap time curve in a DE tire. Get's faster and faster until it dies, unlike the tires that start fast and decline in grip all the way to the cords.

Do they suck in the wet? oh yea. I either swap to my street tires for wet track days or if it's just damp keep em on, getting free laps with little to no tire wear and work on catching slides/car control.
good to know. thanks for the comparison. i might have to put the RR back on the "to try" list after the S3R.

i never tried the A052's because they drop off too fast. i need a tire that has some life to it since i go to the track at least twice a month.
I've got some dhhb scrubs from BW to try next after my RR's are done (after my next weekend at the track, eom).

There is very little info out there, and I'm not even entirely sure what they are. Hard Hard? When I called BW there were surprisingly unhelpful as to what they even were for a compound. Idk, but the price tasted nice and they look to be in pretty decent condition. So cheap they'd make rhyary blush. Alas, they don't sell 19" sizes so he won't be pulling from my supply.
yep, you are lucky, I am out of the running foe 18".

I am busy figuring out how many 285/30/19 RE50A for $134.00/tire do I want. I am fully stacked on the rears

So I am thinking of hitting up a 1/2 mile event in my area.

I know people get real serious about trap speeds and being within the set roll speed, but I have done it in the past and took off higher than the set speed and stayed in it for like a bus length just to see if I could hit a personal top speed best.

I managed s top speed of 139 mph at a 1/3 mile event rolling from probably 70-75 mph when it should have been 60-65 mph and ending at about a bus length after the trap speed sensors.

I think the 1/2 mile event is from a dig, but where should I be able to get my M3 in a 1/2 if I just stay in it a bit (safely of course).

wow... I'm actually shocked at how narrow 305 Pirelli DH is. Was not expecting that.

Are the DH And RR even on the other side?
that means it will be half of that difference toward the shock and the fender

At this point, the Friday morning sessions will be in the high 30s or low 40s. Might be a day of just driving at 8/10ths and focusing on refining my racing line, maybe even experimenting with the new flat-tune to see if I need to change shift points.

Wow, that's a bigger difference then 295 RR's and 275 NT01's lol.

I've run both on 10" wheels and the difference is close, but I believe a bit smaller then what you've shown here.

305 take-offs would be easy to fit if I/anyone can fit 295 RR's.. surprising.

While I’m no fan of the A052, they are definitely faster than the RR. Shorter lived, worse with heat, basically worse in every possible metric... but the A052 is definitely a faster tire than the RR.

I have 4 x RE50A 285/30/19 en route from Tire Rack for $135/tire plus tax for new 2018.

This is a tire I tried on the front last last year and it produced the fastest time at NYST for a max performance. While I am not advocating for this tire to be the fastest, or best, or current technology, it is worth noting that i did full two and a half days on a very abrasive track. So it had excellent longevity.

Not sure how long the price will last, but you it is worth checking if you are in the market.

Interesting. I haven't heard that before. Maybe it's just because there aren't that many people who have run both tires sufficiently to speak to it. Thanks for the insight.

Nice to know I'm not alone. I was starting to feel like I was the only dipshit with a sunroof'd e92 m at the track. like they made a total of (1), and it was mine.

I ask myself often: WHY DIDNT I MAKE THE CF ROOF A PRIORITY WHEN I BOUGHT THIS THING??

Haha, right there with you! My M3 was a bit of an impulse and then I had no idea I'd get into tracking. Mrs Riker is still 😠.

Installed mine a week ago.

What are you guys doing for headliners? I assume just keeping the factory sunroof headliner in place?

I kept mine. Which I didn't realize how low it was until I installed a half cage intended for the carbon headliner. Is pressing up on the liner.

If it was easy to find the other liner I'd swap it, but for foreseeable future this works fine.

I also applied a bead of RTV black when installing and another bead from above to be 100% confident about water.

This makes the most sense depending on class restrictions regarding interiors.
