I found, what appears to be, a good place to ground the camera. I used the mounting bolt for the right side trunk lock. Photos below.

Regarding the mic splitter install in that video. That honestly isnt the cleanest way to do it.

If you watch the bimmertech install video for their carplay system, they show a much better method of running the mic splitter cable. It takes longer, but its a much cleaner install. Absolutely no reason you couldn't mimic that procedure here. In fact, I did that with the mr12volt mic.
Interesting. I wonder if this means you won't be able to code your CIC after this if you want to. I had a generic MMI before and it got it's CAN wires from the quadlock instead of the iDrive knob and once installed it seemed to block CANBUS signals or something because I could no longer code the CIC with NCS Expert. Once I switched to a P2000 and used the iDrive knob harness I could code it again.

Anyone having issues with their unit? Sometimes the audio would cut out and today after about two weeks of using it I have no audio altogether. I made sure it was on CD 1, it says Mr12volt and nothing. I think I got a bad unit. I hope I can get a replacement at this point.

Most likely the MOST cable is too bunched up or cramped. Relieve any stress on the MOST cables and the audio should be fine.

There is one place on my morning commute where it looses connection for about 2 seconds but reconnect. My friend who is an RF engineer explained that in areas of heavy frequency (ie close to cell phone towers) it can "crowd" the wireless connection briefly.

Everything is working - except that the iDrive controls seem to still get sent to the CIC while the carplay is active.

Because of this, if i'm navigating through maps or the main menu it will constantly skip my music. Has anyone else had this issue?

Additionally, the OEM microphone adapter included does _not_ fit the 2013 F25 X3

I emailed mr12volt a couple times, but they have not responded.
I have the same problem. Did you manage to solve it?

I currently have a Bimmer-Tech OEM reverse camera installed that is working great and coded to the car. (this one: https://www.bimmer-tech.net/products...em-integration).

Will I need to remove this in order to install the Mr12Volt or will it all play nicely? I know I probably will need to put the Mr12Volt unit somewhere else because this is nested behind the head unit already, but that seems minor.

It should work just fine with the OEM camera - can be configured to switch to the cars interface when it goes into reverse.

The unit doesn't have to go behind the HU, Mine is in the footwell.

Edit:

Oh, that's not an OEM camera, they just added an emulator using an aftermarket camera. you should be able to remove that box completely and plug the cameras RCA directly to Mr12V.

Damn - 750 US for an Aliexpress camera and an emulator.. what a rip-off.

I seem to have worked out most of the issues except for the Android Auto connection. It's basically unstable. Sound stops briefly sporadically and even disconnects entirely at times.
Don't know if anyone has any fixes for this?

Hi,
I bought the new Mr12Volt CIC Carplay module with OEM Microphone support last week.
I have a BMW X3 F25 02/2013 with CIC and DVD Changer in the trunk.

I installed the module on the weekend and disconnected the MOST from the DVD Changer and installed the loop cable.

On first start the Mr12Volt module was not recognized in the CIC menu. Then I used Bimmercode and coded for the CDMM_CHANGER from "mmc" to "mp3_cdc".
Now the Mr12Volt module was recognized as CD changer and I can use Carplay and it was working. It shows a CD with 3 different titles and when I select a title, it goes to CarPlay screen.

BUT:
All interactions with the iDrive controller are even in CarPlay mode still forwarded to the CIC. So when I'm in Carplay and spin the iDrive wheel and select something, it also changes selection in the CIC menu and e.g. changes the played title etc.
The user @Billylindemann reports the same problem on page 72 in this thread: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1579

Another critical thing is: My car has traffic sign recognition in my speedometer. The menu point of traffic sign recognition is completely gone, it's not there anymore.

Then I used ISTA to read error codes and I have a lot of them:
7 error codes with "No communication possible with..." DVD-Changer, camera-based driver assistance system, transfer gearbox main unit, topview, ...

I pretty sure I installed everything correctly.

The dip switches of the Mr12Volt module are all "off" for 8.8" screen.

Anybody a solution?

clear the codes and see if they come back. not sure on your iDrive controller issues, are you sure it is clicked in all the way? it takes a lot of force to seat the connection.

Cleared all codes and they are comming back.

Which connection do you mean? On the iDrive I didn't have to connect any thing. Just MOST cables, MOST loop in the trunk and adapter on the CIC unit. I installed them all very carefully and checked if they sit properly.

Update for my issue:
- The missing traffic sign recognition was my fault. Because of the reboot of the CIC after my coding, the traffic sign recognition was disabled in the system menu settings for the speedometer. It's working now.

Also I again read error codes and there is only one error code "No connection to DVD changer", which I guess is normal, because I looped the connection.

But still the CIC gets all iDrive controls when in CarPlay mode. This is very annoying because depending on what I control in CarPlay, it could lead that I change the input source if the CIC to e.g. Aux-In and CarPlay stops.
