Install

If you're pulling CAN bus data, here's a great resource for tapping. Here It's effectively the same if you're soldering or using wire taps.

If you're using OBDII, it's as simple as plugging it in. Note the parameters are fewer.

I routed the cable back behind the glove box, behind the audio dash, and out through the steering column with the Solo mounted to the windshield. You'll likely find several examples of mounting locations searching the threads.

Setup / Use
There are great analysis tutorials on linked on TrackJunkies. If you intend to leave the Solo plugged into the car 24/7, I find it best to create two configurations "Track" and "daily". For the daily I'll set the recording parameters as something ridiculous (starting at 125mph) to ensure I'm not getting loads of events saved from driving around town. Note, if you have the "power save" set the Solo will turn off after the configured amount of time when in the "daily" config. At the track I reset to the "track" configuration with respective screens, etc.

Lots of folks on here can point you in the right direction once you get it setup. Good luck!

Thanks DR! Seemed to be conflicting info at the very end of that thread specifically to solo 2 DL tap wires.

No intention to have in the car for daily, but will do preliminary tests to make sure its setup/functioning properly before any outings.

Mainly, just want to ensure I have the top most important Menu's set and ready for work in under 2>weeks time. The complexity of the AIM data is, to me as daunting as it was for others I'm sure. Diving TWO feet in!

There's LOADS of great info on YouTube and in the Aim Sports Facebook groups to help learn it all
It's daunting at first but once you get the basics down its decently user-friendly

I think its still a universal caliper that allows for front or rear mounted calipers positioning. They are still left and right calipers just allows for different positions of the caliper.

https://apracing.com/cdn/drawings/958-CP9660-1CD.pdf

AP Racing Drawing shows this.

Scenario 1 Left Side
Front mounted caliper (where the caliper is closer to the front bumper) Mitsibushi Evo9

Bleeder is on trailing bore

Scenario 2 Left Side
rear mounted caliper (where caliper is closer to the driver door) our M3s

Bleeder on leading bore

I'd find a good driving coach locally who has familiarity with the systems (or even sells them), and pay for an hour or two of their time to help you set it up and get comfortable with the basics of the software. That's what separates the generic resellers from the really good ones.

Thanks absolutely a great first step.

I'm finding the UI clunky to navigate through a VM.
Also on a 32bit windows version - which 'works' but the latest racerender 3 have since updated to 64bit only.

Or maybe I'm doing something wrong ..

My bit walked on a couple of the holes, but came out ok. That's a titanium spring in the wiper arm.
Rattle canned the trunk hinges, didn't have time to install. It was a fun day.

Random, those who put GoPro's on helmets.

Do you put the straight GoPro 3M sticky mount on your helmet? or put Gaffer tape down first then mount the sticky mount to the gaff tape which is stuck to your helmet.

Idk why I didn't think of this before, but I imagine I am not the first to figure this use of Gaffer tape either.

Why wouldn't you secure the go pro as securely as possible via 3m directly to the helmet surface?

They make slightly curved GoPro branded adhesive mounts that would work great.

People tend to dislike helmet cams. Tackform makes a great mount in case you're considering that route.

Slew of reasons, but maybe wanting different helmet view angles (eye vs chin vs side etc.) and not wanting to have 2-4 of those mounts all over the helmet, maybe not wanting that 3M sticky residue to be on one of those fancy carbon fiber helmets, plenty of others skipping my mind at the moment.

The pro media peeps use gaff tape to secure loads of video/audio equipment to cars, basically my thought is to use something very secure, but easily removeable to secure the 3M mount to.

I just like the POV or drivers eye view for personal views after an event, but since I now have 2x GoPros I will check out trackform.
