Is this the same driveshaft as in the J-Fiber group buy on the other forum?

I don't have an exact ETA, but the driveshaft should be in the hands of the tester next week.

Where does one sign up for getting one of these? 6MT car.

Hi folks, first of all I'd like to thank mfactory for sending me a beta test unit for my E92 M3 6MT. I was able to remove the original drive shaft but then realized I would need a new guibo as well so the installation will be delayed until tomorrow night, after I pick up the new guibo from a local shop.

A few early data points and pictures to keep you folks entertained :

The Mfactory shaft appears to be of high quality and from eyeballing the fitment seems comparable to the OE (see attached pics).

More details will follow after I get it installed.

Might want to double check on that. The OEM shaft for DCT is 20-something mm longer than the 6MT version. They don't interchange in their stock form.

I have news but I'm afraid it's not good...

Unless I'm doing something wrong, it appears the CF shaft is too long, even at its most compressed state it is at least 1.25" too long.

This is how I install it:
- Attach the guibo to the transmission flange with a couple bolts to secure it in place.
- Let the Exhaust Muffler hang so that there is extra space between the pipe and the rear diff.
- Put the diff end of the CF DS in that extra space between the pipe & the diff.
- Fit the transmission end of the CF DS into the transmission shaft and push all the way toward the guibo.
- Lift the diff end of the CF DS with a hope that there is enough clearance to fit it into the diff flange.

Please see my attached pics, I also attached a pic of the fully extended shaft for reference.

If you see anything wrong with my installation method please feel free to point it out.

it looks like it will fit, but you're going to have to massage the diff pumpkin. try raising your transmission a little bit if you haven't done that already. this was the key for my dct install.
you can't say it doesn't fit when there are other parts that can move for proper fit.

My best massaging effort only got it this close with the pumpkin head slid & bended all the way in. So I'm going to bet on that 23mm shaving would definitely help

Happy New Year anyway!

How could he have a DCT sample when you haven’t even measured or made a DCT shaft yet. I got the impression you had made only 6MT shafts so far.

I would not have bolted the giubo in place. Leave it loose at the front end, with the guibo in but pushed off to the side. I also would have loosened up the diff mounts so you can wiggle it side to side and back and forth. Then you should have enough room to get the DS CV joint cap into the diff input flange socket.

This assumes the DS was made to the correct length. I assume it was since DS length is no secret. It’s in real oem and MFactory had DS made before for it by Jfiber and should have the specs.

I am guessing installer error. Plus the guy has his original shaft and the new shaft out of the car and can lay them on the floor and measure flange to flange. He even has a picture of the two side by side above.

Ok. It looked from your previous posts that you had made a 6MT shaft not a DCT shaft and we’re working on making a DCT shaft. Instead, you had it backwards but did not know it.

I installed my flex joint finger tight. I have solid sub/diff bushings and didn't have to move the diff. Right as I was about to give up, I moved the DCT up and it slipped in. I think I scraped about .5mm of material off muscling it in, but I got it. I was sure not to press on anything critical.

Great. So it fits DCT and you don’t have to unbolt the diff. When I installed the older Jfiber version on my 6MT, I left the guibo loose and the diff bolted in place and the shaft popped in with minor levering or scraping of the cv cover. Can’t lever hard since it’s just a lightweight cover.

You can lower the rear sub-frame to get it to fit comfortably without much struggle, but this would be more difficult if doing it at home on jack stands.

I believe MRF is in Irvine. If so I can drop it off at his shop this Saturday if you want since I'll also be heading that way. @Mfactory let me know.
