I’ve kind of moved on to the carbon intake box give the relatively modest gains of the cams :-p

Hopefully before the end of March.

So, cams are being installed today, and of course my phone rings. It seems Schrick have sent two exhaust cams for the left bank.

And, even more amusingly, Germany is having a public holiday so can't overnight the correct cam.

I guess I can wait a few more days, I'm taking the car to the Nordschliefe soon so I may not have the chance to get the map tweaked to make the most of the cams.

If anyone wonders why tuning for cams is difficult, have a peep at this.

This is a portion of the code that the DME uses in the filling (air calculation) path in the predictive model.

In the disassembly, v5 is a correction factor for relative filling (rf / air flow) that is fed by 7 coefficients stored in the calibration area (rf_kor_van_koe_*).

A lot more going on than just the intake and exhaust vanos advance / retard maps.

Cams in. Dyno on Monday. Annoyingly, due to timing, I had to get my new Drexler 3.62 diff installed at the same time. Dyno should be clever enough to take the gearing difference into account, new curve will be slightly offset compared to the pre-cam chart.

Nice man, can't wait to see the results. Please get the dyno on video so we can hear the beat in action!

Do you have any details on the install? My cams have been in a box for the past year, there's no DIY or info on how to install

No, but I know that you need special tools for it.

They knocked up a little video of it.

I have a chart for the car on the same dyno, from October or thereabouts. One was planned for immediately before the install, life got in the way and it couldn’t happen, annoyingly.

No worries, lets see them both. On behalf of the board, thanks for doing this.

I’m just hoping they make something, I’d be happy with only 15hp between 6-8k. Some say they don’t actually do anything. I’d be somewhat gutted if this is the case.

I think you are pretty close...15rwhp.

I know... but at the same time i've had BW LT headers and xpipe in my attic for over a year and haven't progressed at all in that department...

If they get 15rwhp I'm game. Add the LT headers for 10 and that's a solid gain.
Based on my experience with the M4 GTS over 6 days at the track, I think whatever it costs to make more hp in the S65 is **extremely** worth it.

As added info, my Karbonius S65 full carbon plenum/elbow/airbox which just arrived at home

Now I just need to clone myself to complete the work. Doing +30 track days a year is a lot of work!

I always use this technique to do S54 cams without any special tools. Can't think of any reason it wouldn't work just as well on the S65.
