And 10" for rear Id prefer not going to 265/285 think that's overkill for a street car And I know with a 265 I'll lose some steering feel I'm leaning towards 255/35- 275/35, or 255/40-275-40 I want comfort as well My existing 255/35-275/35 on 19 gives me more than enough grip, so don't want to go wider

u'll lose more steering feel by putting on a crappy tire (e.g. hankook v12) than increasing size by 10mm... |

you know i would not sleep at night if i had different profiles on my car
serious it's either 255/35 and 275/35, or 255/40 and 275/40 don't be giving me this mixed crap Quote:
the V12s suck monkey balls had them for like a week and hated them so much i was considering putting on my winter wheels till i got rid of them got PS2 and felt at ease again i just don't like the look of my existing 255/35 on 9.5" on 19s the 275 on 10" looks just right the 255 looks a little stretched but maybe 265/35 and 275/35?

I am ready to order these wheels. However--
After looking at all the R-compound tires available, I'm not finding any that offer both 275/35R18 and 295/35R18. I'm willing to consider square setup, but do prefer staggered if possible. Does anyone have any info on this? (I already have Yoko Advan Neova AD08s on my ZCP rims; I'm not needing street performance tires, looking at track tires.) |

I plan on doing 275 35 AD08 or PSS sq set up with 18x10s, but I don't feel like swapping my track wheels with my OEM 19s for daily driving...I'm going to be tracking 5 times this summer, and prly every month...too much work to keep swapping tires Are you saying I can't do a 275 sq setup comfortably on the street? Should I then run 265 35 front, 295 35 rear? (if I'm not going to do sq, then I'd like to run a wide rear) I had 245 40 and 285 35 18 on my OEM 18s now for the track and I do like the feel of it. I would like a larger front for sure.

yes tire choices are limited... i am going with the BFG R1's but the R888's were another option (they even have a 295/30 R888 rear which wouldve worked nicely), but i decided to go with the R1's. there are othe r comps choices in this size from yoko, michelin cups, hoosier R6 (i think?), but the R1's were my fav choice for bang for the buck and grip levels. received the wheels very very promptly, thank you Eddy at APEX!

Could someone please explain what you mean by "excessive tramlining"?

Tramlining is the tendency of the tire to follow irregularities in the pavement, rather than the steering course. The tire width, tread pattern, and alignment settings all influence it. It results in a nervous steering feel.

But why would having a sq set up increase this? Now I'm debating between 275 35 sq or 265 35 front 295 35 rear.... I track about 10 times a year or so I'd say.. not an advanced/super quick driver by any means. I daily about 200mi a week

No, it has more to do with tire construction and suspension settings, not front-to-back relative sizes. Put on a set of bias-ply tires and you'll experience a whole other dimension crossing uneven pavement.
Tires with stiffer sidewalls, like most R-coumpounds, will tend to be worse at it than most street compound tires.

Nothing to do with the square setup. The 275 front tire is 30mm wider than OE, mine just happens to be set up with 275 all around.

Would it be advisable for me to do 18x10 sq with 275 35 or 18x10 265 35 front 18x10.5 295 35 rear since I'll be daily driving it, and I'm far from a pro so I don't need the best track set up, just the best in between

Personal preference. Frankly, for street driving I like the OE 245/265 setup just fine, and have it back on my car now, since I have no track events for a while. I know nothing about the fitment of 295 in the rear, but you would be increasing the factory stagger which, to me, seems the wrong way to go. But again, personal preference, and I don't know what you want to achieve.

With most ultimate performance summer-only street compound tires, I think that you can count on around 100 to 150-laps and maybe 6,000 to 10,000 street miles IF (big IF) your suspension is properly setup and and you drive the car in a balanced manner on track. One or two 30-minute sessions of plowing through corners will total a brand new set of the very best tires money can buy. YMMV is literal here in this regard. You seem to be Jonesing for larger rear tires. Is there a particular reason? Dave
