I thought I would add I used to have an 18 type R. It was pretty sweet for awhile but then I realized that I am not in high school any more and have a BMW M3 in my garage with over 400 horsepower that misses me and I should be driving. Lol!

Just drove a buddy's CTR over the weekend, I gotta say this car is pretty well balanced and great for daily. Third gear pulls pretty darn good, first and second was useless as it was wet out. Looking for one in the near future since the wife likes it, too.

The things that you mention like leather, machined wheels and such are detriments on track. I've replaced the leather seats for cloth Recaro buckets that actually hold you in rather than stock seats that have zero support. The stock wheels replaced with wheels that are more light weight and can fit wider and stickier tires. Soft stock EDC suspension for track focused aftermarket suspension etc. You'd need many modifications to make the M3 a "track beast".. out of the box it's very much a comfortable daily commuter car and no where near what you get with more track focused cars you can buy straight from the dealer now.

Ok so I currently have a type R and a e92 m3. It's a joke.. imo the type R is overrated. I am in the process of trading it for an e90 m3. Fwd and no e brake and it definitely heat soaks. Also it wheel hops like crazy when trying to launch and it really is not that fast or fun to drive. If you want a tuner car get an old 335i or is or a wrx sti. If you are out there Honda and you here me, make they Type R rear wheel drive with an E brake and allow me to make the volume louder for my tunes and you will have created one of the best cars in history. Lol
Ok I feel kind of bad. The Type R is a great car. Handles great, etc. But it really is overratted and I think the STI is underrated. Last edited by Headhunter.M3; 06-21-2020 at 04:09 PM.. |

I and the volume on the type R stereo has this weird safety thing where it does not get very loud. M3 stereo is sooo much better.

WRX/STI are overrated, imho. I've owned/driven many generations, you have to do a lot to have it handle "well" whereas the CTR handles pretty good out of the box.

You have an m3 with 55k miles, enjoy it; take that $7k and use it as a slush funds for repairs ok the m3, use $2k of it now and do the rod bearings. The E9x is the last of a great generation of cars which are not coming back. Plenty turbo 4 hatches to come still.
And lol at that comment on getting a civic if you want high school boys to hump your leg. |

Ever since I traded my e60 m5 for a f80 m3 and then a f82 m4 gts. I always wanted to have a e9x m3 in the garage. |

Numb means they have no steering feel/feedback. My 15 M3 and 16 M4 comp pack were horrible in that department. Maybe they fixed it since then but I highly doubt it. I am definitely not alone in this opinion. You're right it is the fastest and best performing m3 ever. What good is that if its not pleasing to drive. Hell I tried to love it so much as an M fanboy I dropped over 15k in wheels, suspension, and exhaust for my 15 M3 trying to make it enjoyable. As a last ditch effort to stay with a new M and be happy I ordered a euro delivery individual comp m4. I still felt it was rubbish and sold it 5 months later for an e92. Was much happier with my slower, less aggressive, yet visceral car. |

It's a Civic. Only circumstance I'd get one would be as a DD and in that case it wouldn't be a CTR, the base would suffice. CTR is a teenage boy's wet dream. A grown ass man shouldn't drive one.

I have driven and owned one. The only reason why I got it was to fulfil my high school dream of owning one. Needless to say, I was disappointed and got rid of it after 9 months of ownership. |

That being said I noticed after acquiring US spec E92 M3 (DCT) that my euro E92 M3 6MT pulls harder in all rev ranges, stock to stock. It probably has to do with octane rating in the US(thus less aggressive software), but there are also suspension part number differences; JP spec in stock form was sport suspension (supposedly same spec as ZCP) because it has smoother roads.
