At the same time theyre both SO different. If you were to ask me right now whats my favorite 6 cylinder sound, its the 991 GT3. V8 sound will have to go to my friend who took me around in his 458 with a novitec exhaust lol Quote:
They cant enjoy it on the streets . Sometimes they go to "mexico" lol. Thats who I am. I just want a car thats fast enought that I dont have to mod like crazy

The new M3/4 in any recent review pretty much sum them up as dissapointments. It doesnt help when they are placed in a comparo where they are far out of their league. They are not the same calibre of cars as most of those here.
They are good in their own segment and not so compared to anything else outside it. It is odd to hear them say how there is a lack of body control, that the car feels heavy and the steering is vague (not surprising there thats a BMW thing). |

As for a V8TT for the B9 RS cars, the first rumor was that it was going to get a version of the 4.0T found in the S6/S7, RS6/RS7 and S8 but since then it's been said that audi has decided to build a new 3.0L twin turbo 6cyl instead, a modified version of the supercharged 3.0T found in S4/A6/A7/SQ5 I think. I'd be very happy if they decide to go with the V8 but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen! |

In fact, my friend was pretty dissapointed with the sound of his M4. Only one week after he took delivery of it he called me to ask if I could get him a deal on a exhaust because he tought that the stock one sounded pretty tame(I live in Canada 1h away from the border so I always get my parts in the states). So a week later I bring him the MPE since the consensus on the other forum was that it was the best sounding one and IMO the best looking. 2-3 days after he did the instal he called me(almost frustrated at me for having suggested him to go with MPE lol) to ask me to come take a listen, because he thought the sound was'nt that great and not loud enough either, I explained him that it's a particularity of this car, more specifictly the engine because it has turbos and that no exhaust will make it sound as good as his previous cars which were an R8 V8 with Supersprint exhaust, a C63 507 and a 991 4S. My friend is not a forum guy and he bought the car without trying it so he did'nt expected his M4 to be poor in the sound department, so now he hopes that the downpipes are going to help which they should, at least a bit, but my feeling is that he's going to get rid of this car before long! |

I actually test drove the car and was pretty stoke about the sound stock. Ive been around NA cars alot so I fee like its time to try out a turbo car. Your friend has had some of the best sounding cars in the market so yes I can understand his disappointment. I for one am pretty open. The car does it for me for the overall package and pricing. Like I said the ONLY car I would want is a 991 GT3. Edit: What year is your M3? Looks and sounds solid!

But on top of being more expensive then most sports cars I'm looking at, it can't be daily driven in the snow so I'll probably never own one! |

I'ts an 08, I've had it for 4 years now and love it more then ever, I was preparing to separate from it next year but since I'm not really in love with the F8x I decided to keep it and bought a second car for daily driving and winter beating! At this rate, when there's gonna be an enough solid option to make me replace my M3, it's gonna be worth so cheap that I might just keep it.
Curious to know where you have eard my car!? |

You are kidding, right bro ? People still have the "marketing" exaggerated claims about weight saving "-176lb on a comparably equipped predecessor model". Actually It is well under 100 lbs. And even then that's nothing to fuss about when compared to a Z06 that is -500 lbs lighter (3,100 lbs). If you may feel the m4 is lighter it's due to low end torque but once on the track that doesn't matter.
True and a RWD small eco boost is more trouble at the limit than a larger NA. |

The 911 GT3 is $131,000 or more, how is that a faor comparison to a $65k car? I would rather have the BMW and $66k in my bank account.

Come on, everybody and their cousin knows that in the sound department the m4 is a small player ( and that's an euphemism) compared to any serious NA engine, not even getting to a high revving S65. Natural induction sound comes from the front as well. If you want to push a positive point about the m4 then take a better pick like mpg. (not that i care it's not my DD). |

It isn't a comparison rather a statement about a $66k different experience that isn't for everyone; like yourself. Money in the bank may make one feel good or otherwise, but it will not deliver driving experiences. Choices: People make them all the time.

Just a reminder of the E9x's dominance in comparisons throughout its production cycle (from latest C&D):
