Ok, thanks for sharing. I'll mull over it as I've read mixed reports when it comes to octane boosters and negative impacts to spark plugs and O2 sensors. Not the ideal thing to want to deal with. I'd imagine a top tier certified gas source is still good quality, just that the blend's detonation is earlier than a higher octane gas. This isn't my area of expertise, so I'll research more.

Always a good idea to keep a can in the trunk in case the pumps are out at the track.

Thanks, I ordered one via amazon prime to have in hand for T-Hill West this Saturday, and they've got higher octane fuels available trackside as well.

Thanks for the tune - I'm very pleased with the results on my mostly stock drivetrain, just muffler and intake filter swap. Running on 91 octane, before tune on a dynojet was 328 rwhp, post-tune 91 octane on a mustang dyno gave 341 rwhp. I'm happy to take the numbers as they are, without discounting the dynojet number!
Definitely feeling the increase in low end power, will be fun to feel it out safely at Thunderhill this weekend. I'll try and mix 4 gallons of 100 octane with 12 gallons 91, and have some cans of Torco on the way in case. Last edited by kyippee; 03-06-2018 at 12:33 AM.. |

I'm considering this tune for cold start delete.
Currently running catless+ eisenmann race, and I can already attest that even with stock DME, my car pulls around 10km/h faster on Suzuka back straight. My questions are: 1. How is the reliability of this DME tune? Will it trip up a few remaining horses nicely? 2. Is it going to be e.g. ignition timing adjustment for best mid-range pickup? 3. Will 240E be flashed prior to DME tune?

If you are not up to date, a 240+ file is provided to update before the tune is loaded.

I am looking to update my DME to the latest version (231E I think?) prior to the E-flash.
However, I have been informed by the dealership that CCC unit(installed on '07 M3) may become impaired after 231e update. Is there any precautionary measure I should take to prevent this from happening? Or should I just go along with the original software(probably 60E) and flash my DME?

Just a little information on Torco, you have to use it in moderation as it will coat your plugs orange and can affect the knock sensor ability of the spark plugs. For cars that don't use spark plugs as a knock sensor this shouldn't be too much of an issue but the s65 with its spark plugs that do sense knock this can be a detriment.
If you use it in a pinch it's fine. Just don't use it consistently. |

Hi all, need some advice on flashing my 2007 E92 M3car back to an ESS tune it had on. I bought it with a Harrop supercharger and associated tune (by bpm) loaded, seller provided locked cable and the 2 tune files loaded on the car, both mod files 5121 KB in size:
“harrop_bmw_mss60_240eek” and “Harrop-1-16_CD_CSD_vin-[vin#]” Before the supercharger it had an ESS tune loaded. The seller provide the locked ESS cable and 2 associated files with the following names: “1-240ES.OS”, a mod file 5121 KB “2-240E.102C v2” a mod file 5121 KB I want to remove the supercharger and go back to the ESS tune, the software is timebombed out and I need to get the lasted version, but once I do, can I simply fire up the software, plug in the ESS cable and flash the 2 ESS files over the Harrop/BPM files? I also have a full read ORG file provided which I assume is from the stock ECU as there is a txt file with it showing vehicle particulars / reference numbers. Of course I’ll be re-installing the stock hardware as well including stock injectors. Thanks

Latest E-Flash is always available from the ESS Tuning website:
https://esstuning.com/support/ If not installing a ESS supercharger, install the 1-240ES.OS file only. This is a stock configuration file using stock injectors. Quote:

Thank you Tom.
I flashed the ESS N/A tune I had that AJ actually updated for me to the latest version, and the car is running very nice (apart from a persistent 272C code, not software related, probably rear #1 sensor heater circuit). I must say, ESS have superb customer service!

272C was bank 1 rear O2 heater open circuit. Even though its a catless tune, it still checked for proper heater operation. All good now.

I bought an e90 m3 that apparently has an ESS tune on according to the previous owner. Previous owner was not the original purchaser of the tune.
Including with the car is the ESS cable and a thumb drive. Is there anyway for me to find out what options were selected on the ESS tune that's on the DME of the car? Right now I have no idea if redline was increased, if it's setup for 91 or 93 octane, or anything really. It DID pass California smog which I think is odd, but I guess the person who originally tuned it was in CA so perhaps they didn't select a catless option so the tune isn't trying to suppress o2 sensors? |
