Straight up sheered my studs right off.

I was just going 75-80. Felt some vibration. Figured it was my wheel bearing going out as I just replaced one and not the other. Come to a stop light. Turn left and my truck dropped to the rotor. It was insane.

Always torque to the correct setting and double check anyone who tightens your lug nuts!

Holy moly! Was the hub damaged at all? Or were you able to attach a new wheel on the spot?

The locker for the hub cracked on the edge. Rotor didn't even dent. I rolled on the rotor for probably 50ft to get out of the intersection.

Wife brought the jack, a 4x4 block, torque wrench, and 3/4 socket. Luckily, the distributer sent me two extra spacers by accident and told me to keep them. So I had them in my toolbox. Jacked it up and had it back on the road in an hour.

Bought wheels with an aggressive offset as soon as I got home so I could ditch the spacers!

I always triple check my torque settings now on every vehicle I own if the wheels were removed.

I'm very lucky I was slowly driving through my neighborhood when the failure occurred. Otherwise, lord knows what could have happened. No real damage to the car just a gnarled wheel from the cracked spacer and failed bolts.

Still not exactly certain what broke first. When I got out of the car to inspect, the wheel was hanging on by 2 bolts that were no longer threaded. After getting the wheel off on the side of the road I came to find that the lip on the spacer broke off entirely.

Installation Instructions were followed to a T. Factory torque specs all around. I used the extended bolts supplied in the kit by Renn. Assuming those gave out first.

A firm reminder not to cheap out..

Welp, any suggestions on reputable spacer brands? I've heard positive reviews of Future Classics(?) Loved the look of the 12mm spacers while it lasted.

Go with turner motorsports or macht schnell. I've got the turners and they've been great for around 70k miles so far. Sorry about your luck with the renns.

Promised myself I wouldn't go this direction with a 13 year old car but I'm not selling. Picked up a rear console on EBay, mine would squeak and rattle due to busted tabs. Attempted a JBWeld repair which failed, $48 shipped for the complete unit.

Also picked up a new coil cover, busted tab on the back end, $54, it can be had for a couple dollars cheaper but went the FCP route. I tried to use high temp Epoxy on this as well but it failed. So a whole lotta fail over here in Texas. Happy New Year.

Went for a drive around Lake Berryessa yesterday.
Roads weren't very good though.
It seemed like any turn that was in the shade would be wet.
Then you add all the dirt from all the work trucks (fire damage) in the area and what you get is a recipe for disaster.
Nice dry straight into a blind decreasing radius turn that has a mud slick half way around it.
But the day wasn't a total loss...I didn't crash my car, and I was only 2 miles from home when the low tire pressure warning came on.
Made it home no problem.
Found a bolt in my left rear tire.
I got 3 track days and 2 years (25k miles) out of my PS4s, but they don't feel nearly as confidence inspiring anymore. (Do street tires heat cycle out?)
The fronts have been re-balanced already (which really helped) but now they aren't happy campers under hard braking anymore, so time for some new rubber.
So, today's chore was to remove the wheels and make them ready for new tires.

I'm finishing up a week-long job - with my attention frequently taking me away to other tasks. Earlier this week I did brake pads front and rear, stainless steel brake lines, brake fluid flush, and repair to the felt undertray. Yesterday I installed H&R sport springs on the front (still working on the back), TMS 12.5mm spacers, and swapped out the center medallions on my stock wheels to go to a carbon fiber look. Waiting on a carbon fiber trunk delivery. I also washed the inside of my wheels, learning that they are painted the same color as the outside and not, in fact, painted flat black.

Looks like the 3 of us tried to enjoy 3 different roads yesterday. I went up Mt. Diablo, but Berryessa and Bear Creek are local favorites as well. Yesterday certainly had tough conditions with wet spots for me too, plus more cyclists than I could have imagined. Not the best drive, but it was pretty out.

It seems weird but there are some brake rotors where the vanes aren't parallel to the drill holes, so it's possible they are on correctly. Worth double checking though.
