![]() No leaks? I have assumes the connecting pipes are all the way in once the thermostat house is boltet down, but now Im hoping they still can be pushed into the engine a tad more. Anything you thought of when assembly mate? |

The 2 connecting pipes were clean coming from the engine, so I left those alone. My car is just under 50k miles, so the issue is age, not really mileage now.. more likely rust and plastics getting brittle. When inserting the thermostat and connecting things back, I like to smear a very very tinny bit of Mobil 1 synthetic grease on the connecting points, just to make it slide in easier. If not, just use full strength coolant ( I have a small bottle I keep undiluted, so it's kind of greasy and makes the pipes slide in each other easier). I had the thermostat and sensor error too before doing this, so I changed both (the sensor is pretty much looking at you in the thermostat body, might as well do it). Cheers |

Had the airbox and plenum off in a blink this time around though, very helpful with some grease on the hoses. Update: Got new o-rings in and test drove, seems tight and dry this time around, lovely. Last edited by Helmsman; 12-01-2020 at 02:24 PM.. |

Got an oil change.
The weird thing since I switched to Liqui-Moly: The e-dipstick shows full when I leave the shop. Shortly after, it drops to half. Later, it pops up to full, then drops to 3/4, back to half, etc. I never had this problem with the BMW recommended 10W-60. I hesitate to top off the oil since it's unclear how much oil remains. With the last Liqui-Moly oil change, I just added a quart when the car asked for it. Fortunately I keep a quart in the trunk. Is this variability a characteristic of Liqui-Moly, a problem with the "dipstick," or normal?

Fluctuating oil levels after an oil change are common on these cars. If you have done a bunch of oil changes On your E9xM3 and never experienced fluctuation except this one time when you used LiquiMoly for the first time, I would say that is very strange. I cannot think of any reason why LiquiMoly would do anything different unless somehow its thicker consistency is causing slower true readings.

Might be a coincidence, but maybe your level sensor is not quite happy anymore ? |

Is the oil level sensor a float, or some type of conductivity/capacitance/etc device? Since Liqui-Moly has "moly" in it, could that cause the level sensor to read different from a non-moly oil? We only had our car long enough to do 2 oil changes, but it didn't do anything weird like this either time.

58,000 miles of nothing but Liqui-Moly and never had a level reading issue, so doubt it's related.

Finally got my hands on one!
Looks like nothing - but for anyone that has had their car fitted with Akra's slip-on know how ridiculously difficult it is to get their hands on the X pipe as Akrapovic won't sell it separately. Another item on the winter project list. For current Akra Evo owners: am I missing anything for install? |

Switched up to winter wheel/tire setup and did a brake flush with Pentosin LV Dot 4 to catch up on last remaining maintenance item.
Also just received a newer Carplay unit from Carsara, and hoping to install it this weekend to replace my early version Carplay unit from Kremersino. The audio quality and microphone quality from the Kremersino unit has never been particularly great.

It's super easy to get OCD about a car I've asked my sons to use as my hearse. Strap the box on top and don't baby the throttle!
