2. 265/35/19 275/35/19

The lease expensive way to test the sizes will the Ecsta PS91 because it has both sizes.

The more expensive route would be MPSS

If the 265 275 prove to be competitive, it opens the floor to RE-71R, a reasonable priced tire. or the expensive R888R.

Will see, I still have to chew some tires I have in inventory

Skip the 888. Ran a few sets and should've just jumped to the RR sooner.
Well....
I know the R888R common opinion.
I ran the R888R myself and was not impressed.

However..... it is a possibility that Toyo would be interested to work with me on tires. If that materialized the two options would be the RR or the R888R. The RR we know and like but I tried few times the front RR 235/35/19 and while fast, I am not willing to dial my camber from -3.5 to -2.0 so I can ran these. (At -3.5 I destroyed the inside of the 235 too quickly). Anyway the 235/35/19 Hoosier R7 did the same thing as the RR so I know it is not the RR, it is the size.

Moving on, the point is that I will only mount the R888R if I have a Toyo tire engineer making sure the tire is maximizing its potential. Otherwise I am not going on it on my own.
If you're destroying the inside then aren't you running too slowly for that negative camber setting?

What's the problem with reducing the camber as its not inherently beneficial to run excessive camber if it's not providing more contact patch grip?

Luckily there are real suggestions and insight below!
I was doing my best times on the RR and R7 running in the 1:35.9 with the R7 and 1:36 with the RR despite the wrong size
Which makes sense, they're the stickiest tires. But objectively that doesn't mean they're being driven to their abilities for that aggressive camber. Didn't you previously say your RR temps were like 150 degrees? Or maybe it was "over 150 degrees". Suggesting they're barely reaching operating temps.

I obviously I'm just guessing, but if you're trashing the insides it would suggest you're not using the tires evenly (whether that's pressures or driving speed) either will impact tire temps. Or am I missing something?

The 235/35/19 tire temps were close to 200 coming off the track after last lap not being
aggressive.

The 150 was on the 285/30/19 and was uniform across the width

Also, consider that I was doing 1:36 on 285/30/19 and 235/35/19 which is very fast lap

Anyway, I am not doing 235/35/19 on the front in 2021. Got to move forward and narrow down some variables

A bigger tire is going to take longer to come up to temp and will last longer, so yes, it's no surprise that the 285/30R19 was only at 150. It is a common misconception that bigger tires mean more grip. Bigger tires last longer, and are pointless if you can't get them hot enough to get into the sweet-spot where they produce the most grip.

I hear ya. But 150 isn't up to temperature for the RR. That's not debatable.

Also, 1:36 is fast relative to what? This chassis, amateur driver, on r comps, etc? Lot of variables to just assume that because you're running a certain lap time = using available grip. I see folks on GT3s or Z06s that are running faster times relative to the other cars on the track but likely 10-15 seconds off the pace the car and tires are capable of.

This is why I am gravitating toward running the same tire with both sizes.

Keep in mind that a 285/30/19 can run less pressure then 235/35/19. So it can deform to imperfect road surface better.

Subjectively I really like how the 285/30/19 feel.

A sticker R7 265/35/19 did the best lap time 1:35.7
A take off R7 235/35/19 did second best time 1:35.9

A new RR 235/35/19 was in the 1:36 until it died

An 2017 RE050a 285/30/29 at fraction of the price got into low 1:36.02
A current 2020 PS91 285/30/19 was low 1:36 NYST and did 60.9 at LRP (best time) at lowest cost for current tire

A PS91 275/30/19 was at 1:37 range

Anyway, it gets boring from here... :-)

This true and actually more a concern for my rear tire. One of the things I observe is that the 275/35/19 does not feel less capable then the 295/30/19 and the 275/35 was running hotter.

Having said that, the MPSS 295/30 on 32psi hot was great at LRP.

I don't have enough information because I have only few trackdays on the 275/35 and only one tire. The Ecsta V720.

At least one trackday was on 285/30 front and 275/35 in the rear. Not a combination I prefer, but it did happen.

I don't want to run 265/35 with a 295/30. I did it few times but did not feel right.

Best I can describe it is that 285/30/19 295/30/19 feels sweet and the 265/35 275/35 feels mean. I don't know why, but if one is faster than the other (or last longer) then I want to know that

Holy mama. The SPL front arms and tie rods ends are on now and car is aligned. I don't know if it's because the existing stock arms and tie rod ends had 79k miles on them.. but damn steering wheel feel is very noticeably different. Feels like the car's front end got replaced.

Haven't even hit the highway to go home yet. Just driving at 30-40mph on the way to get food!

Better go <1:50 at sonoma this weekend. Past PB 1:51 was on a lower spring rate, NT01 instead of current AR1, and before all the front/rear bushing mount and arm changes.

Has anyone have any experience with/or know anyone who does have experience with Nitron's r3 Kit? (Aside from Schirmer, obv)

I'm looking at this option for two reasons a) they're pretty big in Europe so I know there's pedigree there, and b) I can buy them for about the same or less than mcs 2wnr, et al. It's a big step going from EDC/swifts/camber plates and being a 3 way adj damper I know I'm going to need good support to get them dialed in.

From what I have read on them, Nitron has good customer service and should be able to provide guidance in getting them dialed in. What I DONT want, is a 3 way damper nightmare that I can't figure out.

Talk to Inertia Lab, they like Nitrons quite a bit. Actually recommended them for my car over JRZ and others.

I'm looking into Nitron 3 ways as well for my M2. Not much known about them over here for our cars but like you said they do seem to have had success in Europe. And look to be able to withstand some abuse as well.

2nd this, good guys to talk to. They haven't done much with Nitron on BMW yet but worth visiting with them on it.

I remember looking at Nitron waaaaay back when I did a stock-spring compatible set of 2-ways on my E90M in 2012. They are legit. They (and really, any 2-way+ damper) are not for beginners. So many lower hanging fruit, but when all the other stupid ideas are used up...why not

Sad to say that I missed Speed District's Buttonwillow day today, I was putting off signing up and didn't expect the last 9 spots to go so quickly!

I'm seeing some general tire talk and will chime in that I love my Goodyear Supercar 3Rs. Designed for heavy cars, like ours and the ZL1 1LE. At 32 PSI cold, they take a good 5 mins to get up to temp but then they're just a plateau of grip that never falls off. Running 275 35 on arc8 18s

Josh from Speed District ran them on his tuned 720s and also has good things to say.

How's the sidewall of the PS91?

I have to say, I am very pleasantly surprised by the Federal ST-1. It is low noise (most surprising), has a good progressive breakaway, and decently grippy. While it's harder for me to gauge the sidewall since they're on the rear, sidewall construction seems a bit soft. Not only is this tire good for $120 a tire, it's good period. I might just buy some for the front to see how they fare, I go through them fast enough that it wouldn't be a problem anyways.

Mike, not sure if you've answered this already somewhere but does the rear brace seem to help? I've heard mixed things. Does it interfere with the rear seats? I used to run a rear seat delete but the audiophile in me didn't like it.

Just a public service announcement- heat wrap turns into dust after a few years. I was changing out some clamps today and it just started falling apart. So have some on hand if you plan on messing with it and it's been on the car for a while.

This is a computer question,
For some reason AiM RS3 stop playing sound on my videos.

The same video file sounds fine on other software and videos from past track days don't have sound either.

This I think started on the last update or RS3
3.34.02.

I suppose I can downgrade to last version, but looking for something obvious I am
missing.

i am on Win 10 latop
