Per Redline's page, the viscosity at 150 celsius is 5.0 for the 5w50. Their 10w60 is 5.8 so the former is slightly thinner at high temps but shouldn't be an issue. In comparison, Liqui-Moly 10w60 is 3.5 at 150. I don't think the OEM Castrol 10w60 even lists the HTHS Vis. ![]() Source: https://www.redlineoil.com/5w50-motor-oil

Everything is OK with motul 10w60, but in Ukraine, the weather will be colder soon, and I would like to have a bit “lighter” cold starts with 5w50.

A suppose that practical Track use will be +/- the same as with the motul 10w60. I’ll try, and then tell you the practical results. |

Anyone looking for a 10.5/11 setup I'm going to part ways with my E88 setup. This is wheels only, I'm keeping the tires.
Not going to be cheap but a quality wheel that fits without any spacers and lets you run a decent range of tire sizes. 10.5/11 I have 265/295 Cups2 on them now which fit without any issues both inside and out. No spacer needed for the fronts at least with my 2WNR MCS setup and previous B16 setup. Also, not entirely sure about brake clearance for every setup out there but they fit my AP/Essex 9668/9449 setup just fine. Message me if interested. ![]()

I personally cracked several OEM wheels. Finally ditched them for monoblock forged Forgeline (track) and Finspeed (street).

Decided it was time to do a small aero mod and get more downforce on the front axle for high-speed turns -- was still getting a tad of push on high-speed sweepers.
These are the "stage 3" front spoiler spats (canards?) that come on the Z06 with the Z07 package. Didn't add the rear wicker bill bridge yet as I don't feel like I need any more drag back there. GM has said they don't put that on the non-Z06 cars because they don't have enough power. Can always add it later though. Kinda bugs me that GM doesn't sell these in carbon to match the chin spoiler itself. If I like the performance, I may sell them and go for the aftermarket full carbon ones to complete the look. Anyway, next track day is in 2 weeks so anxious to try them out then.

ECR with Chin.
Early stages. As always, I'll probably get $50 and the lawyers will get 100000x that.

I took my M3 out to the Lime Rock Autocross track on Saturday and had a great time testing the limits (more of the driver than the car) a bit for the first time in my own car.
Relative to what I had read on here, I was a bit surprised at how intrusive the traction control system was, even in MDM. I didn't have ABS kicking in, but on exit I was definitely having power cut out. I think part of this was down to tire pressures that might have been too high so the car was sliding a bit more than it would have liked (see below) and driving inputs not being smooth enough though even when I felt like I was easing the throttle in I was still getting wheel spin and occasional power cut. The short track is a kidney bean shape where they put a chicane on the 'back straight' to keep speeds low, with more stress on the left hand side tires because it is predominantly right hand turns. Tire Pressures (were equal left and right, +/- 1psi): Cold (60* air temp, ~10 minutes after I arrived from driving up): Front 33 Rear 35 Hot (72* air temp, ~2 minutes after finishing driving): Front 38 Rear 40 Based on the wear marks I barely made it to the edge of the grooves on my MPSS on the left side and didn't even get that far on the right. I imagine that if I were to do this more I would want lower pressure and slightly more front camber, which is currently in a very street oriented setup with less than -2* camber up front. I didn't do any experimenting with tire pressure mostly because I wanted to keep variables low given my inexperience. |

Just turn off DSC entirely for autocross. Keep the throttle setting ("POWER" button) at the normal mode or you will find it hard to modulate the throttle as you try to accelerate out of corners.

tsk94 m3heaven LeveragedTiger And anyone else interested. Reporting back for those asking about the RT660's:
LOVED the tires. Lots of grip. Wear seemed decent for the abrasive surface we normally autocross on. Got a bit slower as they heated up but didn't give negative feedback like the Bridgestone's do where they feel "greasy" and less responsive. Times in the BRZ were in the top 10% of the day yesterday with the caveat that the course did favor smaller cars. I am really interested how they wear on a heavy M3 if anyone picks up a set sooner than I can. 275's now have an ETA on TireRack of October 9th, $946 for a set makes them a decent amount cheaper than 275 RE71's at $1,099.

Thanks for the report, Kelse92. How do they feel at the limit? Is the limit easily reachable and do you get feedback as you reach it? (and go past)
Assume you haven't driven them in the wet at all, either.

Anyone here try out Hawk DTC-80s yet?
I found some DTC-80s for the front for a killer deal ($200 new, normally about $620) to go with my ST60 BBK. Still running the DTC-70 rear with my ST40 BBK I have used the 70s and was happy with them and then switched to the Pagid RSL29 and was not happy. They worked just about as well but did not last as long and I would feel less confident in the brakes at the end of a long session. I would of went with the 70s again if it wasnt for the killer price I found.
