Here is a link to the original build thread. From completely stock form transformed to version 1 with stock engine (just bolt ons). It was quite fast and fun to drive.

All the plumbing is finished. At the moment the engine, exhaust, driveline, cooling systems, and transmission are coming out. Heat shielding is going in. Then the car will go back together for a final time. Final will be a quick and dirty wire of the car. A final wire will be done when we have more time.
Originally (2013) we had a simple dash panel. Basically a sheet of aluminum for switches. Light and functional but not the best looking. Not to mention there was a glare off the interior of the car. Most carbon fiber dashes were $1500-2000 shipped. So instead we are trimming up an OEM dash ($65). I am guessing it will be 5-10lbs heavier than a carbon dash.

Great build! I love V8 converted E46 cars. That is the way they should have been built from the beginning!

How did you end up doing with the steering shaft? It is not a lot of space on these cars when the V8 is in place...

You should measure your SS lines for the dry sump. Then measure some scraps of each size you used to get a lb/inch value.

You're going to die when you do the math.

My DS kit on my Euro engine added 70 lb. I don't think that included the weight of the extra oil added in.

It's crazy when you are worried about weight.

No matter what class or series we're talking about, it is ALWAYS cheaper to buy a race prepped car.

....but 1) when you're doing something unique and interesting like this, it's often not possible to find the car you want to purchase from anyone, and 2) many people enjoy building as a hobby; it's a fun (while simultaneously frustrating) process, and you always learn something new.

Other people's projects often suck unless they are truly pro builds and then you have to pay through the nose. There are some exceptions but often the stuff you see on BaT etc. is cheap for a reason

All the wiring is finished and yesterday we hooked up the laptop to the Motec. I had a S62 expert remote in. A few of the sensors were not reading properly so we will have to look into it. Overall these items are small and should be resolved shortly. Next we will download the start tune, let it idle and check many systems to make sure everything is done properly. Then take it in for a dyno tune. I am not sure if we will fly in the tuner at this point or remote tune. Getting closer.......

I think I know who that expert was!

Once you get the swap infrastructure done, then what you need is a fully built NA S62. Your expert and I know just where you can get that! LOL.

Can't wait to see this up and running. Great project.
