I wonder what the performance figures will be.
Also, if the 4.0L V8 in the 'standard' m3's can achieve 480-500bhp, I wonder what the 4.4L V8 can achieve with the same standard bolt-ons.. 550bhp?

Are there any aftermarket wheels out right now that look like those? The HRE P40s look reaaaaally close but the concaveness is wrong. The proportion of the split isn't quite right on any of the other v-split spoke wheels I see.

No, it's not innovative, just a factory tuner car.

Complete YAWN!
BMW gives us this when the problem with the current car is that it is overweight and undertorqued. Who needs an overpriced, vomit colored, track monkey? How about a real world lightweight vehicle with some low end torque to regain the moniker and to restore the world's respect for the M3. Stop resting on your laurels BMW. |

The more I think of this car, the more I feel the M engineers looked up this forum and came up with a fucntional, yet very crude design
1) Front spoiler - Too many out there to name, but I assume BMW's is CFD and/or wind tunnel tested 2) Rear deck wing - watrob did it in 2008 and got flamed 3) BBK - Brembo, StopTech, AP, you name it 4) Lighter wheels - I won't even start to name the suppliers 5) Adjustable coilover - KW, Moton... 6) Stroker engine - Dinan, RDSport... 7) Stripped interior - PG did it more than a year ago 8) Bucket seats - PG, Europeanautosource, many more... 9) TI exhaust - Ericsson, Akr... The GTS is a good attempt at a track-focused road-legal M3, but it's really not quite as revolutionary as the E46 CSL. Think of the FIRST mass production carbon fiber roof, the CF bumper, plastic trunk, cardboard trunk floor... Those concepts did not exisit with the regular E46 M3. But the majority of GTS's modificaitons are available aftermarket RIGHT NOW... and only 450 hp?! come on! Most members here with a different exhaust and a software tune can reach that. |

What you guys don't understand is slapping a bunch of crap on a car doesn't make it fast... its the tuning and testing r&d time of making every one of those mods work harmoniously as a whole package. Don't fall into the trap of believing that slapping a bunch of mods on your car instantly makes it as fast as a factory offered package that has been through the ringers (on the ring LOL) by some of the best automotive engineers and test drivers in the world. As for peak HP all that means is that at one singular point in the power band the 4.4L is 30hp up... for all we know it might make +65hp at 4000rpm over the 4.0L. The area under the curve for the 4.4 is going to be much greater then it is for the 4.0L

To all those who where at Savage's throat, saying he was BS, putting his neck on the line, looks to me the only ones looking stupid are all the posters, mostly new ones who had no idea who Savage is.

The more I look at it, the less I like it! It looks too high and narrow, perhaps its bad photography in those pics because I have seen MANY E9x M3s modified by M3post users that look much, much better! +1 All I would want is the engine and the brakes. That rear spoiler is hideous. Remember when Watrob installed a similiar spoiler to his E93 M3. Everyone ripped him apart, this spoiler may be worse!

The engine/intake/exhaust/tuning on this car are a little more 'optimized' (in stock form) than the standard 4.0-liter M3. BTW: You can't extract 500 crank hp from the current 4.0 liter powerplant without nitrous. With every possible bolt-on and a custom tune...you'll end up in the 475-480 crank hp range MAX.

....or pay for all the aftermarket parts on there, then pay engineers to wind tunnel test it, then pay professional drivers to track test it, then have more engineers set up the suspension geometry, etc... I have a feeling the price would be pretty damn close

Every one of these parts requests, will be heavily scrutinized by the corporate watchdogs in the first year or so. Eventually, the process will be come easier to circumvent, and the dealers who specialize in acquiring these parts will find a way to channel them to U.S. shores. You guys just THINK the E46 M3 CSL parts were hard to get (and obscenely expensive)...wait until someone actually tries to source a few of these GTS parts thru 'black market' channels. My BMW source tells me that these limited production BBS cast flow-formed wheels would easily list for over 4k (US currency)...WITHOUT TIRES. And that price doesn't include shipping charges from Germany!
