another Q, when I sign up, it says group 2-3 mandatory for first time drivers (me)

does that mean after the group instruction training that my day is over? or would i be able to drive afterwards alone?

am i better off signing up for full track day private instructor instead of group?

There is a gas station very close to the track...only a couple minutes away.

Also to answer your last question no...you have just as much track time as anyone else. It's up to you if you want a private instructor all day.

to answer all of the above...

get gas before the track..having a full tank on a thirsty motor is good.

there are air pumps at the track

only the first session is instructed in a follow the leader type exercise unless you pay for private lessons.

as for getting private lessons, some think its worth it and other don't. It really matters on if you feel comfortable or not. I would recommend that you do the mandatory lesson (group) and later in the day ask an instructor for some help. They are usually really cool and will do it.

Nice!

I don't think ExtremeSpeedTrackEvents allow passengers other than their instructors.

That would have been cool..I have done track days with Open Track racing and passengers were ok with a helmet.

You sure it was at Willow Springs?

Last I checked, it's a rule set by Willow Springs that only instructors are allowed to have passengers/ride with drivers.

Some of us are going on the 11th: me, KTM505SX, Ben, and somebody Ben knows from MFest (he drives a E60 M5).

Yep I've had a passenger at willow springs running with Open Track..Must be new rule they've introduced. This was a few years ago. Will post a pic later on when I get home.

Is that rule set by the track operator or by the event organizer?

I asked Joel and he said it's a rule set by Willow

Also, a few months ago I was going to run with Speed Ventures and they also told me that Willow doesn't allow passengers.

Not sure on the specifics though.

June 11th @ Big Willow

Here's some photos from today @ Big Willow. Had a great time. We missed you James, Sean, Brian, Roy, etc!

Was having too much fun to take any picts of cars on the track.

There may be a video coming, though.
