So is it worth $500 for these rebranded subs?

There's a Audio Control line out converter that converts the signal from the OEM into a JL Audio amplifier that powers the sub.

Ok... Sweet. That sounds pretty plug and play then or did you have to do some customisation to get it all to work? I don't suppose you have photos of the setup? If it's straightforward then I could've keen to follow suit as I miss my deep base...

tehres a member (technic) that sells the Audio Control LCi2 already prewired with the OEM connectors for a complete plug and play installation.

It's highly subjective, but the feedback seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Bavsound has the "no questions asked" refund policy so if you install them and decide you don't like the sound, you can return them.

EPS is already a decent system, and from what I've read, this gives it that extra bit of missing bass to really make it a nice setup. Still can't compete with a true custom install, however.

I'm starting to wonder if you're having unrealistic expectations. Keep in mind that this is still basically an OEM system. You're dropping in a speaker replacement. No new amp, etc, and so when you evaluate these, you have to keep this in mind and not compare to the sound you'd get from an aftermarket setup. IMO, for a drop-in replacement and no additional power, all else being the same (speaker, power-wise), I hear a significant improvement.

I paid in the low 300's for my pair. I initially wasn't going to try these for $500, but for 300, it was worth a shot. But now that I've had them for a couple of weeks, I would pay retail for these.

I'm way past the phase in my life of full aftermarket setups and value my trunk space, so I'm in that section of the market that will be happy with a good OEM setup. The EPS is "good enough" except for the low-end portion of it. The bav subs complete the system.

But as I stated above, it depends on what you are looking to accomplish. It will not compare to an aftermarket setup.

Bavsound has a section on their website for demo/open-box models. You can save about $100 if you're fine with that (same warranty and refund policy).

Definitely can't go wrong with that - plus, I think they still qualify for the free toolkit promo.

Question for you: Did you happen to buy the right pair for your car? There are 3 versions available(2ohm, 4ohm and 8ohm), iirc, and maybe you got the wrong one for your set up?

Yes, and they had another promo in Feb that gave you a credit for posting a review.

Yep.... I bought the right model (8ohm) for my Individual Audio / Dirac system, that was the first thing I checked. :-) I think some of the comments about unrealistic expectations may well be true. After listening to it more this weekend, they definitely 'work' (plenty of air movement and a little bum massage), I just expected a bit more low end bass as to my they still aren't as low as my OEM subs. That said, they're certainly very punchy and tight but may still need to put a 10" in the boot to fill in the missing gap from the sound stage. I'll give them a few more weeks to fully break in first though before doing anything...

I'm pretty sure he still sells them... I would PM him for info. although that thread isn't active, he has other threads active regarding installs with his harnesses specifically the F80/F82 forums.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks too. Had to replace one that was defective, the magnet was loose and rattled against the housing but replacement unit was sent out quickly.

In terms of sound, I'm like Tbone, don't need a "high-end" aftermarket system but looking for a bit more bottom end to round out the existing system and the Ghost woofers fill that gap. For me it's a perfect fit.

Why so many opinions on this one simple upfit? Well, your experience will vary based on your ears, what type of music you listen to, your preferred volume level, ambient noise (aftermarket exhaust, suspension etc) and probably a bunch of other factors.

I know, right? I'm a big home theatre nut and audiophile, and people always ask me what speakers to buy. My answer? The ones that sound best to your ears.

for people on the fence... with bavsounds 30 day return policy, try them out for a week and if you don't like them return them.

It's a solid upgrade, very happy with the results. You get a lot more range and headroom with the bass response. Good audio to test results with is the intro to Trip Like I Do by The Crystal Method.
