DCT
Hi, just crawled under to inspect my 64k miles 2011 M3 DCT and looked ok to me. Wanted to post them to see if anyone thinks otherwise.
Thanks |

Looks perfect to me! Reminds me its getting time to check mine since I got a new box 2 years ago. Although it should bloody well keep tight!

Just an update...
The DCT pan and mechatronics gaskets are again leaking with just 45k miles (and 13K miles after the repair). I am looking into a more permanent aftermarket fix (aluminum pan and Viton gaskets) to resolve this silly problem once and for all. If anyone has experience with the Viton seals and aftermarket pans being offered, your input would be appreciated. |

Mine has a very slow leak on the mechatronics, minor; going to replace the gasket and cover (there are two revisions on the cover). Will also replace both filters.

Mine weeps a very small amount and I haven't replaced the gasket out of fear of having your same experience... very frustrating I imagine.
I've had the car about two years and learned of this issue when putting the x-pipe in. I opted to simply top it off after reading of others recurring issues like yours. At the current weep rate, it would take a really long time to drain a considerable amount. Not the ideal solution but I'd hate paying hundreds of dollars to have it "fixed" only to be at square one. Hopefully the Viton seals work out! Quote:

I think many of you will be happy to read this qoute from another forum.
"Bmw stated on one of their internal technician videos that it "normal" for some fluid to come out of the vent at the top of the transmission during aggressive driving or in high temperatures. It usually runs down the passenger side of the transmission and looks like a leak at the side or bottom pan of the transmission." |

I found one pan that claims to allow the OEM under-tray to stay in place, meaning the pan does not hang below the felt tray. It looks nicely made and actually does away with the OEM style gasket - instead requiring the use of a sealant (such as DreiBond). |

The only aftermarket aluminum pan I remember seeing / hearing about was the Gintani one and that one does hang lower and does away with the OEM undertray.
Is there another pan out there that is more durable than the plastic one that retains the OEM set up? |
