just a quick log update
7000 miles, 7 track days so far, not one issue other than wear/tear items like tires and pads. car slowly converting into a fully stripped track car and I plan to keep tracking this car for the next 4-5 years at least. |

pretty much.. why switch? I love my M3 and I know I have lots of room for improvement as a driver... eventually I might consider a GT3 but only after a few years.. I thought about other cars but the only car that really pulls me is the Porsche GT3.
my rear interior is now completely stripped.. front interior is still stock.. (except for the seats/harness) - this works great because I can still DD but the car is much lighter.. I just need a proper roll bar because I already have a 6 pt harness and race seats (still running just a harness bar), brake cooling and I'll be set. How's your car coming along and when do we see you at the track next? |

haven't weighed the car as I don't know where to go for scales other than to Cantrell .. must be about 3300-3400lb I guess (1/4 tank and no driver) based on other similar m3's I've seen on the forum.. |

29000 miles and just hit 40 track days.
Replaced front rotors, on 5th set of pagids, and replaced spark plugs myself. Expect to change plugs every 20 or so track days as I am supercharged. Only other issue was Idle control valve. Did it a Indy shop ( $550) as I didn't want the dealer to complain about the S/C causing the problem. Dealer appears very friendly about the S/C.

Just had another scare, but was nothing. Cars been going into limp mode on decel and was becoming almost un-driveable in stop and go traffic, but WOT and even at the track was fine. Progressively got worse, this is all happening in span of about 3 weeks, to the point had to pull off the highway 3 times trying to get to the dealer. Car gets scanned and it's just a faulty/loose exhaust gasket that apparently has been basically fried off from all the hard driving it sees and was letting in air to the exhaust and then throwing her in limp mode. Gasket replaced, less than $200, wouldn't warranty it because of the Akra evo, but all fixed and car runs great! It's crazy how the computers freak out and make one think the engines falling apart, when it's just in protect mode for a broken gasket. All's good, cross country trip to Watkins Glen and some track work, so we'll know if she's up to the task....As you were....

Which gasket was it specifically? Between the engine and header? Or header and cat?

I retired her at 50k last august, about 8K track miles with rcomps and hard work.
Recently had to replace PS pump and rack, valve cover gaskets, crank bearings, dct "pan", rms, and diff. DCT is very clunky, and cooling system seems a bit taxed around town, and calipers are in need of rebuilding. Held up better than my old e46, but not a gt3... |

A few things...snapped my rear sway, at the bar not the end links
And have had to replace all my wheel studs as 2 snapped on 2 different wheels! Sway being replaced by the mfg, no cost, and moved to wheel studs. Bringing the car in for a once over as the season has ended for me and will report back any findings/insights... |

No shit!!! Car is at IND for the week getting a once over, oil change, DCT flush, new center caps (melted the originals ) wheel well liners (mine are pretty beat up, but not from rubbing) and hopefully that's it... for now. Due for a respray too, but like the war wounds

Year: 2010
My car is ran very hard and seen a good amount of laps on the Ring, plus long road trips. I am able to redline a few gears on the daily where I live. 74K on the clock and going strong. I have really had no issues with the engine bay and I hope that holds. One of the cosmetic plenum screws on the top are gone but meh...race car. No excessive oil consumption and I change my fluid every 7k with 10W-60. I just recently swapped the DCT fluid and I must say it was impressively clean, new looking. ONLY REAL ISSUE SO FAR BELOW: Wheel bearing R/L: This is the first issue I have had with my car and replaced it after it exploded. |
