Yeah, haven't been on the forums much lately. Glad to see you're still around keeping everything in order here!

I've been thinking about getting a QuickJack for some time now and figured it might be worth getting the extended version so it would work with virtually any car I'll have in the future. Unfortunately those rarely have special pricing while the regular ones have gotten as low as $800 at Costco. I'll probably jump on the next Costco deal.

Just for you I went out to the garage. I have the SLX. is this the little version? If this is sold for 800 i may have to buy a second one!

Quickjack also sells an extension kit for the SLX model. Or you can make one if you have access to welding equipment. It is just a few pieces of square tubing. Although you'll need a little more clearance under the car to fit it.

saw this error code about "slipping clutch"



2008 6MT on original clutch
i've had the car since 57k miles, now at 75k

what are some signs to look out for?
i haven't felt anything wrong but now i'm all paranoid and keep thinking that my clutch feels different all of a sudden

it doesn't help that I haven't been driving much because of the stay-at-home order for Los Angeles
so now it's like days in between drives and I really can't get a good sense of if the clutch really feels different or not

Yep, that's the regular one that they sell at Costco. Every now and then they go under $1,000. I'm in no rush so will hold out for the right deal.

I wonder if the EXT would even fit under your Mini, might be too long.

I would prefer the EXT over an SLX+extension kit for the low ground clearance benefit, but pretty sure the SLX will cover all my current cars and hard to ignore a $500+ savings when they're on sale.

CEL for clutch slippage? Haven't heard of that.

Also haven't heard of a M3 clutch dying in 57k miles... they are almost indestructible!

As you can install them 90 degrees rotated vs the car I wouldn't want the longer version anyway.

no CEL
nothing showed up on the dash
but I was changing my tune when I was getting my smog check
when I hooked up the cable and laptop, it showed these 2 codes

I'll hook it up again and see if the code shows up again

I got the standard 5000lbs version from Costco.

Finally got the matching (and last one) parking brake boot installed and screw caps for the exposed seat mount bolts. Interior is all done-zo!

You're right about that. I worked in aviation composites and kept all the scrapes and was messing with "forged Carbon" years before they charged a mint for it.

carbon cloth comes in rectangular rolls so when they manufacture a round part there is tons of waste. I imagine the R and D guys in the supercar world had to find a way to reduce carbon waste and make more money.

Forged carbon is just as much of a consumer rip off as Alcantara, a cheap product that has fallen into an expensive trend.

Ive lately been making "forged" carbon parts for my E93 interior. when im all finished ill start a new thread. a teaser for now.





Its not for everyone but im sure it will look better when all the planned parts are finished. My factory black interior has about 50 different shades of black. At least knocking out some carbon parts will reduce the amount of colors in the car.

^^^all those panels back there are considered structural. If anything maybe dimple die (provide some strength), but please dont punch holes in those...
