I strongly recommend drilling out the seat to steering wheel interface. It's mostly dead weight.

What not to do at a track day.

This happened just a couple days ago in Toronto. First opening day of the season. This lapping day is apparently organized by the track themselves but poorly managed. Lack of track marshal, lack of rules, etiquette....just lack of everything. All these damages came from just a couple of hours. What blew my mind is the track allowed passenger to go out with no helmet.

Apparently the corvette that got burnt to the ground wasn’t involved in any of the crashes. Cause was overheated brake melting the methanol line. The car was modified, accordingly to several posts on Instagram. But still... multiple crashes and a burnt out car makes a pretty bad day overall.

That's awesome!!

My wife's first ever experience with a E9X M3 was riding passenger with her instructor in his gutted, caged E92 M3. So that's been her gold standard and while she doesn't much care for how the changes are made, but she's very excited that the car is getting stripped with a half cage going in.

Mrs. Beef has a point. I went from 175Lbs to 162Lbs for free weight savings.

Heat Cycles - How many?

So I have on the rear MPSS with 21 x 20min sessions on them. My understanding is that heat cycle = Session. Correct me if I am wrong.

The tires on not on the cords. There is enough tread left. So who many heat cycles is reasonable to put a Max Summer tires on?

I have no ideas. I typically cord the tires before I have to worry about heat cycles. But 21 sounds like a lot

I don't think there's really a simple answer. It comes down to how hard you are working the tire, the type of pavement, ambient temps, how worn the tire already is (wear is not linear), etc.

I suspect you will notice the maximum grip fall off as you rack up the heat cycles...so even though they may not be at the cords, they will get slower. Overlay your telemetry for lateral G for each lap in each session for the tire's whole life span. My guess is that you will notice max lateral Gs slowly creep down. Alternatively, overlay each lap from a given session and the max lateral Gs will probably peak after a few laps (once they warm up), and then start to decline.

Someone can correct me if I am misunderstanding how this works.

PS: I don't know if I've ever actually done this myself, maybe I'll do it tonight after work. :-)

SYT_Shadow finally tested the PFC Z54/45 bbk with the 11 compound...wow these have some power and don't even seem to "brake" a sweat. Combined with the aero I really have to recalibrate my understanding of the car.

Yes they do! It's the best bbk. No cooling needed and you can pound on them corner after corner and they just shrug it off.

My two track cars are full weight and I'll outbrake anything out there and the brakes still don't care.
And, now that I've developed a bracket, you can move them to the F8X generation if you ever get one.

Today was a productive day raising my car's ride height! It was way too low (nearly undriveable on the street) so looking forward to having it at a proper height now. Figured out a solution to do the rear with the stupid KW perch design too! Going to finalize the alignment and corner balance it later this week.
Only pain of the day, one of my cheaper studs decided to break while I was just finishing up and torquing them down... ugh. Thankfully I keep spares around.
I'm buying a full set of Bimmerworld ones now and really looking more closely at doing a press-in swap. This one today was the 3rd one to go on that corner and I installed this set of studs in December...

I have thought about going in with some local friends and getting one we can all keep at a central location between us to do tires at. For now there's some cheap places nearby though, and locally theres a couple of groups that will come to you for a little more money in a fully-equipped truck/van and do mobile tire install at your house too.

Here in the Tristate area a mount and balance will set you back a cool $200. Nuts
