Finally got around to installing this kit. The blower completely changes the car. After 3k RPM, the car pulls and pulls and pulls. The improvement in the midrange is noticeable and if you do redline the car, you certainly will be breaking the speed limit and hunting for traction along the way. That being said, if you're expecting the car to transform into some sort of torque monster or you're expecting to feel the same way you would in a Tesla, then you will have to readjust your expectations.
My install was a little different since it went into an E82. I did have to make some adjustments here and there, but overall it was less trouble than I thought it was going to be. The install took me a couple of weeks since I was doing it on and off, but can be done in a day if spend the ENTIRE day on it. Read the install guide a couple of times and you'll be golden. Getting the alignment with the FEAD mount to the engine to the blower is a pain, so be patient and getting an extended length 10mm open wrench or you can play trial and error. 3 things I modified were: 1. The breather line going to the bottom of the blower kept getting pinched and just felt like a half done solution. Luckily you can get a 90degree PCV rubber connector for Fords, that's the same diameter as the breather port and can slide off the OEM plastic hose. 2. Mounting for the heat exchanger since the E82 layout is different. 3. The return line from the reservoir to the heat exchanger sits on top of the valve cover so I wedged in some insulation wrap to avoid damage to the line even though it should be good to 500F. The stuttering/misfire issue at high gear and high load is easily mitigated by downshift. I have a DCT so I'm either rolling into the throttle less aggressively or I choose the 4th or 5th drive logic settings so the DCT shifts down more readily. I have to give BPMSport and Mike Benvo a huge shoutout. To say Mike went above and beyond is an understatement. Prior to installing the kit, my DME got bricked due to a poor cable from a third party vendor. Mike took care of the communication with the vendor to get the issue resolved and I had a working DME in my hands within 2-3 business days. I also had some teething pains with the kit, and he took care of the communication with Harrop. Its hard to find good people that know their stuff know a days, so it was a refreshing experience. The fact that he's continuing to support this platform says something in the first place. Goes without saying, but I would recommend him regardless of whether you're buying the kit, need a N/A tune, coding, etc. Obviously the kit is expensive and the lead times are variable, but if you're on the fence and have the opportunity to buy the kit, I would jump on it. If you're in DC area and need a taste, hit me up. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One of you assholes could have warned me how hard it would pull. Not Tesla hard, but pretty decent. I had zero traction issues and she just kept going and going. I was not ready for that and haven't been in a power car like that in awhile, so learning curve and need to adjust hah!
Additionally, I'm currently paired up with RKP 200 cell HFCs and a race Remus exhaust…….BUT NOT FOR LONG… Stupid loud. Like, obnoxious loud. I honestly can't describe it, and I'm putting on my stock exhaust until I find something better. Hell I might even just keep it stock and let the RKP do it's thing…..my god. -Duke |

It sure does pull nice right? I am tempted to get a draggy but will probably only use it a handful of times. I think with the right tires you could put a 3.62 and do 60-130 in the low 7s. Interested to see it vs a stock 991 turbo. Right now I think it's probably low 8s with tires spinning through 2nd and a little in 3rd. It feels faster though

Does the supercharger oil need to be changed on this platform? Also where can I access it and what oil do I use? I can't find any literature online thank you

Which OE platform uses the same TVS1740? Would be interesting to see the recommended service interval for that vehicle.

Looking at the back I don't see any drain holes. Taking the plate off will expose the gears. I believe might need to remove the top bolts and that will give you access but not sure

There a few tutorials online for DIY oil changes, but how many of us will actually hit 100k miles on these blowers? At that point you might as well send it in for a rebuild.

There is one kit available for July delivery at slightly higher cost. Those on the existing waiting list for kits end of year will have priority if interested in getting this one sooner. Anyone interested for this last kit let me know asap. the customer purchased it months ago and had to sell his car. thanks!

Kit was claimed today.
We will be reaching out to those on the waiting list to secure your kits for the end of the year in the next few weeks. There are potentially 3 or so slots available out of the ten for those interested. if you'd like to get one by first quarter next year, please make sure to reach out to us to get on the waiting list. Also, there should be some news on higher stage availability in the next few months. Will likely offer it in small batches to those that have had the kit the longest. Have held off on offering it officially to avoid the possibility of 100-200 orders in a short period of time. We are putting together some ideas for how to roll this out without overwhelming our currently packed schedule and allocating enough time to finish projects here that have been sitting for a year. |

Smaller crank pulley, injectors plus a tune? Secondarily, is a map sensor that can read boost part of this package as well? You mentioned this a while back, and then at some point stated it wouldn't be part of an initial stage 2 launch. Again- that was some time ago, so I'm curious if the approach has changed, as a few years have passed. Also curious if its just the crank pulley that would be changed, or if there will be pulleys for the other components on the same belt to compensate for the smaller crank pulley to avoid over driving them. Glad to hear you are still working on this. |

Some additional impressions and tips after having driven the car some more after installing the kit:
- I would suggest replacing your thermostat, coolant sensor, fuel tank, TAs, and whatever else sits under the manifold to avoid removing the blower. It's not that hard to remove and lay it upside down on the side given you have the length in the water lines, but why go through that hassle. - Do not depend on the OEM MAP sensor to get a boost reading. I was getting ~2.6psi and thought I had a leak, but after using the port on the side of the blower, I saw that I was getting the expected 5.5-6.5psi. - One of the water lines going to the reservoir might seem too long, but wait until you install the strut bar again before you trim it. I made the error of trimming it too short so I had to come back and lengthen it to avoid pinching the line between the strut bar and the cowl. - The hard line going from the bottom of the reservoir to the passenger front of the heat exchanger makes it tight to remove the passenger side tension strut. If you plan on replacing that or add monoball bushing, you will have to loosen the hard pipe to get additional clearance to remove the bolt out of the arm. - With an OEM filter and stock airbox, the whine from the kit is minimal. Granted, my exhaust is loud, but at idle you barely hear anything aside from the pulleys and the whine isn't prominent until you're really up in the rev range. I ended up swapping in a GruppeM replica intake to get some additional induction noise. For now the whine gives it some additional flair and its not as annoying as others make it seem. - I have learned to drive around the hesitation at high load/low rpm, but it does rear its head every now and then when I'm too aggressive taking off from a traffic light or trying to pass and the DCT drive logic isn't at 4 or higher. - The improved mid range is phenomenal. The car moves with ease and the boost response is instant once you're above ~3500RPM. Once again, if you're on the fence, I would highly recommend picking up one of the kits if you're considering putting a blower on. ![]() Last edited by Tut4u2; 06-08-2022 at 07:25 AM.. |
