MANY cars on here, probably the majority, with failure were doing 5000 mile oil change intervals. Doesn't even seem to be less likey with more oil changes. (said as someone doing ~5000 mile OCI's on his cars)

you may want to go back and check the 2011 cars that have spun with in the last year. even cars in this registry are by no way shape in form majority 5k changes.

Please spend more time doing research on the forums. This topic has been discussed to death. The S65 if properly assembled can last well over 200K miles. If the assembly was spotty, failure occurs much earlier in the engine's life. Miscellaneous Engine assembly issues are the biggest culprit, and NOT oil change intervals. Oil change intervals are very important, especially for engine longevity, YES, but it ranks below proper engine assembly, as a cause of the engine failures.

Thanks for your suggestion. I actually just had an OC and have sent out the sample already. I'm just curious what other been watching for for 2011+ cars in their report and has there been lot of success in catching failure in advance for the 2011+ cars.

Just replaced my bearings over the weekend and wanted to post a few pics as I know all are curious. Disregard gouges in bearings, I tossed them into a box after removal. -- Crank was 100% OK, zero issues. ps- I chose VAC Bearings & ARP hardware.
Car is a 2009 E92 DCT with 130k miles. Car has never seen the track and majority of milage is highway (60% +). Hardest driving the car will see is sprinted driving on back country roads etc. Oil changed varied between 6-10k miles and have always used BMW Castrol 10W60. |

I'd say you have some pretty good looking bearings for 130k. Maybe about as good as it gets. I have 137000 plus on mine now. I hope they look something like this. |

Nice! It's ridiculous how much better yours look at 130k than mine did at 60k. That definitely has to inspire some confidence in your engine!

This and keep in eye your oil consumption, wich could also be a good indicator of premature bearing fail.

Didn't bother getting one, I knew the bearings were bad when I could hear them. 3 bearings had copper showing slightly near the edges. Zero crank damage.

question for the guys who had bearing issues, does the noise go away when the car is warm or is it always there?

Start up and continues while driving= rod bearings. Get a tech to listen to the noise to trouble shoot further.

Why do you want it done if there is no issue ... precautionary?
