Good call on the bleeder screw. I broke mine at the track (with a screwdriver that I turned with my arm fully extended to limit the torque!) and made a sick coolant geyser. Everyone else was quite entertained.

Finally on a proper schedule.
Will try to buy new wheels this year. Going to do my valve cover gaskets and DCT pan gasket during the summer also. Valve cover doesn't seem hard, just tedious. My actual covers don't look warped. The paint isn't bubbling either so I personally don't think its worth replacing those.

It seems to be fine now, but in another 50k, I'll change it again with the proper stuff as long as the Syntrax is going to work.

IIRC, the Castrol SAF-XJ is what BMW specified before they starting selling their own unicorn tears... Cheers,

Red Line's 75W140NS is used in clutch-type limited slip differentials in racing for maximum lock up. Some users add Limited Slip Friction Modifier in small doses to customize slippage.
That is what Redline says about the 75w14NS version. So yeah, it would seem without the modifiers, the diff will just lock up a lot quicker and likely make normal driving unpleasant. Cheers,

I think I'm having battery issues of some sort. My radar detector shows the voltage and lately its been around 14.8V to 15.1V, the battery was replaced a few months ago. Whenever the voltage does spike to 15.1 I get a right daytime running lamp malfunction which goes away as soon as it also appears.
I know the radar detector isn't 100% accurate either. Its usually +/- .1V - .3V but Carly and the hidden gauge cluster showed the same. The car was on the tender for the past few months. I'm just wondering if my battery is somehow prematurely failing already or its something else. The voltage does go down once I start driving and usually after 15-20 minutes its back to 13.8V-14.0V. I've never seen the voltage go past 14.5V even with my old battery.

Washed it on the weekend. Goes for correction and coating on march 10th. Decided to just let the bumper be for now and not shave the reflectors and respray.

Was on car when I got them. Love the look and color but would have gone with different size if I bought new. These are the gray/gun metal. They also come in silver and black. Last edited by akkando; 02-19-2020 at 04:20 PM.. |
