New wheels and tires... these direzza dz102's are surprisingly good, went on a spirited drive today and I am thoroughly impressed by them..

A bit of windex on the rubber hose junctions makes seating the plenum much easier. These wobble ratchet extensions are the best $15 I ever spent. So much better than the u-joints that flop around and bind up. |

Installed a FancyWide rear diffuser. I was pleasantly surprised with the fitment and built quality.

Ordered an AJM matte red start power button. I have the iND red button now but it's glossy which just doesn't look right. I was thinking about a matte clearcoat spray, but figured this AJM one is popular and looks clean, easier.
Also ordered a Bimmerworld brass coolant bleeder screw and an assortment of Ti64 titanium engine bay hardware. Surely one of my dumber expenditures, but .. bored. |

They're volk G50's 19x9.5 +22, running 275/30/19 square setup with a 12mm rear spacer. which look a little funny on the rear I must admit but it's growing on me. I wanted to take advantage of my 4.10 fd so ran a shorter rear tire. You can see the difference in height between a 295/30 and a 275/30. The car def feels more athletic. I'll get some better pics next time I take it out.

Changed my plugs. Like the video's and other reports: The front 6 are easy-peasy. #4 and #8 are more challenging.
One recommendation is to not waste money on the coil puller, I didn't. I tried the coat hangar, that's stupid. 1/8" paracord with a uni knot was simple and safe and was quite effective on all 8.

Spilled coolant all over the place while scrambling for catch pans. Not my finest moment.

Reading about the coils that of some reason have gone through the roof on pricing so want to make sure I don't break any on its way up. |

The nice thing about the paracord is that you can wrap it around your fist juuuuust the right amount to lever your fist or other hand off of the valve cover. Once the coil starts to release, you can instantly feel it and instantly reduce pressure to keep the coil from flying out. And, you can wrap the cord over the V braces in the back of the engine to get the perfect angle. Once you try it, you'll see how simple it is. #8 is still a bitch though. Any slip knot should work but I've been tying the Uniknot for fishing for 40 years and it works well. Animatedknotsdotcom if you need....

So I think I fixed my Tune2Air problems. Basically I was using that because I don't have combox for bluetooth audio but it kept disconnecting after 15 minutes or so. On my phone I set that bluetooth device to be Media Audio only and turned off contact sharing and phone for Tune2Air. Only the car's OEM bluetooth handles phone calls and contact sharing now. Problem seems to be solved.

Just installed Fortune Auto coilovers over the weekend and I ordered 4.10 BMW Motorsport gears from Europe (same gears as the M3 GTS). I'm excited!
I really need to make a build journal.. soon. |
