Mine only seems to burn oil on long trips.

I can drive to the office 40 miles each way all week for months, but the second I drive to see my mom 100 miles away or take a long trip to a race track. 1/4 disappears.
Ah that makes sense.... I have 58 miles round trip each day, and yeah it doesn't burn anything. But I do remember losing a 1/4 qt on a longer 5 hour roadtrip once in the last year.

On the contrary, it makes no logical sense. haha

I can drive more days at a low mileage, but one day at a high mileage will make that digital oil gauge move.

The difference with consumables and actual parts is that there is recourse for a vendor to get money back from parts suppliers. They guarantee to the manufacturer that their supplied component will have a certain lifetime expectancy or a limited failure rate. Manufacturers also use retailers as a proxy between them and the customer and it helps them handle these issues. I would imagine that they can get the cost covered on a fair amount of these returns.

I’m not sure but I don’t think the same applies to consumables. I think it comes directly out of their bottom line. Maybe they can write it off as an expense.I have used this policy of theirs before for an N54 injector and a transmission solenoid. Both failed prematurely.

Running a small business is not an easy task and I have a lot of respect for it.

FCP isn't small whatsoever. They even have their own race team and drift teams. Ofc they're not as big as turner motor sports

Turner was pretty big but not so much anymore. The pic of that warehouse is bigger than Turners shop. But for everyone debating why take back used oil, don’t forget all of your used oil is heating that warehouse and all of their property. They prob paid for a few waste oil heaters and get free heat with the oil returns. And I’m sure the company wasn’t designed to lose money by any possible means

kWh of heat < $150 oil kits.

Is a company ever designed to lose money? That doesn’t mean some don’t. And I’m not saying FCP is.

Guess I can’t leave this one alone. That’s fine, I don’t think someone is abusing the policy necessarily but I do think it’s pretty ridiculous.

Filled up with a 100/91 blend and took advantage of some 50 degree weather. MPEV2 has a nice growl at 70-80 under load. Also experimented with short shifting 1-7 at different shift points. Too bad the manuals aren't 7 speeds. Lots of fwy racers pulling up next to me blowing their horn 3 times to race. Dummies.

Rented this black car for a couple of days.

Exterior detailing + ceramic coating really brought the paint back to life. If anyone on Long Island is looking for this type of service, Xclusive Autoworks does incredible work.

What were your findings from a 100/91 mix?

Over the summer I did a 100/93 mix, my butt dyno couldn't feel any additional power, but I feel like I could tell a minor bit more of an exhaust gargle on decel and very minimal throttle being more free. I chalk it up to placebo effect.

With 91 doing full throttle short shifts to 4-5k I can hear pinging that goes away as RPM climb. With 5 gallons of 100 mixed I didn't detect pinging and trips to redline seem snappier. I have no data to back this up. I have only driven 11 miles on this tank.

1. First oil analysis on my ownership came in clean. I did not get any from the previous owner but he had the bearings changed to BE+ARP a while back.

2. Plan to touch up a few rock chips on passenger side door. I saw either wet sand it then touch up or no sanding at all. Can anyone chime in so I can do the touch up fix properly?

thx

Changed the transmission fluid back to redline D4 ATF and gave it a wash.

I have done that. But it was wet out and I had to go driving so I was not too ocd.

I have a good wash mitt that I use only on the wheels. It works pretty well.

Love having a clean car but winter in Victoria is very wet so it is difficult to keep up with cleaning. And I like to drive it so no way am I going to put it away for winter!!!

Finally started removing the performance electric steering wheel. Been wanting to do it for months now. Wheel is out and just need to pull the harness and swap clock springs.

which Tesla is that? (It IS a Tesla, right? don't see any badges but the tail light looks familiar)
haven't looked recently but in the past, I saw that Teslas are quite pricey to rent
was it just to check it out for fun?
