Hi,
I have a 2010 model so I have the plastic green one with two springs. What I did was remove the outer bigger spring but kept the small one in. It helped reduce the wobbling around of clutch pedal a bit. I then removed the silver spring that is hooked on the clutch. Not sure if that is a good idea or not but it made the clutch lighter but for some reason felt more direct than if I had just remove the bigger clutch spring. With the big and small spring still seems like the best way to go but i dont like how the clutch wobbles around.

Has anyone with 2010+ cars done this? Any noteworthy improvement? I see how it would significantly change 2008/2009 models (pre 2010 clutch spring change).

lol... literally within minutes. It's like you read my mind. Thanks for your feedback. Couldn't remember what year went to the dual spring. Looks like 2010 did indeed get it. Thanks again. Keep up the awesome DIY work by the way!

Thanks, for some reason I think early 2009 and late 2008 models have the dual spring versions too... if you look at the previous posts, unless I scanned through them too quickly

I'm just wondering if removing that spring you mentioned would indeed cause an improvement in the pedal feel, essentially resulting in a somewhat "stiffer" clutch which I guess I prefer. ---M

I did this on a buddy's 335 and when we finished he had no clutch engagement and i believe he had to bleed the clutch or something with brake fluid and a pressure bleeder.
Is this the case with the M3? I have an 08 M3 and just went out to buy the T15, T20, and T25 torx bits. thanks guys |

I just did this. Piece of cake. I sat on the ground on a piece of cardboard next to the door sill. Took about 10 minutes start to finish. No trouble at all removing the circlips or e-clips with a long thin small bladed screwdriver. I did a clutch stop at the same time. I like the pedal feel from the spring loss. Also like the clutch stop. My next shift mod may be the weighted ZHP knob. No need to bleed the clutch slave, though if you do your brakes sometime, do the slave as well.

So I went to do this on my 07 328xi and to my surprise the previous owner must have done it. I have the clutch stop installed for anyone that needs a reference point.

On my E46, I just went with the cheap route. I got those pads you put under furniture legs so that they don't scratch hardwood floor. Put 2 of those on the carpet. Works just like $20 aftermarket clutch stops.
I'll have to try this clutch spring mod on my 08 since everyone seems to have positive results

I am using the $10 ebay stop. It appears to consist of $3 in parts, but you might spend more if you had to buy packages of several parts each.

What does the clutch pedal stop do exactly? Does it prevent the clutch pedal from going all the way down to the floor? If so, doesn't that prevent the clutch from being actuated fully when you step on the pedal?

is there any fix to the pedal wobble? I love the feel of the clutch and really don't want to put the "coilover" back in, but the wobble is driving me nuts!! I also have a 1cm or so of nothing before I can feel the pressure as someone else has stated above.
