It has two Burns mufflers which are re-buildable plus you can add and subtract packing material to meet sound. If we are at a track without sound (Oregon Race Park) we can take all the packing out! It should sound very nice and cook your dinner at the same time!
That brings up another item or hurdle we had to get over. We always wanted a side exhaust to save weight, avoid a hot exhaust by all the rear suspension parts and it just looks cool. Typically the side exhaust would go directly under the passenger seat. Well we don't need any cooked hot dogs or buns if you know what I mean. And we would like to retain the passenger seat for promotional purposes. Therefore the exhaust needed to go behind the seat and we will have to add some heat shielding. |

At this point we are finishing up the small details with regards to fabrication. This is what we have finish or am finishing up:
Headers Engine mounts Tilton pedal box Custom steering column Oiling for the engine and oil tank placement Radiator and Oil cooler placement and plumbing with custom catch can/overflow Exhaust with side pipes. Tilton clutch for M5 6 speed trans Carbon drive shaft Electric power steering pump with custom cooler and catch can/overflow Custom front splitter stand offs (should be quick release to remove splitter/bumper for loading into trailer) Air and Radiator box to force air through both Next up wiring and plumping of ABS/brake lines |

We can now provide parts and information with regards to:
Dailey Engineering pan and pump Pan and pump kit Engine mounts (second set will be machined out of billet aluminum) Headers Location of pedal box Location of steering column Tilton clutch for M5 6 speed (Modified) Drive shaft The system/kit has been designed to provide performance but also easy of serviceability. Therefore the engine, trans, headers, exhaust, starter, etc.. can be removed independently and without pulling the engine. This is ideal and a difficult task as others (before us) have mentioned they had to pull the engine just to swap the trans or starter. FYI This is not a plug and play swap. It will take plenty of fabrication and know how to complete this swap. Depending on your application there could be alternate versions of what we have done here. Knowing and understanding the differences could determine if your engine holds together or not. |

Most of the fab is finished. There are a few items to tidy up. Now we are onto plumbing the brake, radiator and oil lines. Below is a progress picture.

Beautiful work.
I'm running into many of the same issues on an E36 with same engine, less budget. Did you do the headers yourselves? How did you determine they are really equal length? They appear to be much closer aligned with say Supersprint M5 headers than truly equal length Dinan type or Evolve early versions that really nail the length. I went overboard, bought a custom kit from Icengineworks with two sizes even to make a set of stepped equal length headers. But, alas, will go a separate way. Cool kit though. Your car is going to be a monster, just sucks these don't spin, and torque falls off so quickly vs BMW engines with real lifters and cams.

Project looks great! In for updates, especially motor mounts and headers, which are the real trick to this swap.

Race season slowed our progress but we our back making headway. Last week we made some alterations to the header for better clearance and redesigned the alternator bracket.

Currently the car is back at A R. The air box is being finished up at the fabricators. We have a few more oil lines to order/get in soon, install some fuel line brackets, then start to wire the back half of the car.
I did order a GTR wide body kit this week. It will be another 3-5 weeks before it is shipped from Europe. |
