I'm now thinking of running Nitto NT05's
275/35 on my 95. front and 295/35 on the 10.5 rears. I ran these on a Z last year and really liked the feel. Any thoughts? Thanks |

Nope. I have studs installed (90mm), so I can't answer your question. I can tell you the rears only have 4-5 thread rotations, so 90mm studs are about the shortest I would go.

I hope this isn't a dumb question but I can't seem to find a good answer. My car came with 18s, 245/40 and 265/40. Going to a square setup with 275/35 is going to make the rear wheels 3% smaller, can this cause speedo and traction control issues?

You will have zero problems. Countless people are already running this setup, and have been doing the same with numerous other BMW models. If there were an issue people would be talking about it.

18x10 and 18x10.5 on order, along with NT05s (275/295)!

@paintpro21 and folks who run NT-05s on track/street - question for you... looks like the NT-05s in 275/35/18 square setup are out of stock everywhere :-( ... Will a 265/35/18 setup work as a good compromise?

I would not recommend a 265/35/18 on the 18x10's just because the 275's are not available. I would pick a different tire like: Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1 Bridgestone RE-11 Kumho XS I forgot to mention the Hankook RS-3 in my PM

FYI, I put the APEX ARC-8s 18"x10" square on my '09 Silverstone II coupe, with Dinan springs, camber plates and mounts, Dunlop Direzza Star Spec 275/35-18s square, with no rubbing:
M3 with new wheels and tires by dcstep, on Flickr IMG_0267_DxO7D by dcstep, on Flickr New Dunlop Derizza Stat Spec tire tread by dcstep, on Flickr There is a very small issue with the DSC being a little confused. In agressive street driving I'm feeling the DSC touch the inside rear brake lightly when the rear end has not broken loose. Maybe the change in offset or slight change in rolling diameter has the computer's little brain confused. In "normal" driving I don't notice it at all and when I autocross I'll turn the DSC off. I consider it a very minor problem for me, but if you like to track with the DSC on, then it could be unsettling. Dave

Any chance you'll bring 11in or 12 in versions out? I'm thinking of going forced induction and then will need lots of grip in the rear. Will 325's fit?

With a square setup, the approximate 2% f/r stagger is eliminated, so I guess the computer will sense rear wheel spin a bit earlier (technically, it could be sensing slight spin constantly). I don’t remember it on my E46 M3, but then I always turned off DSC on track. I would expect that result. |

Great, I was hoping it would help someone. I was a little worried, given my modest drop and I hadn't read of anyone using those particular tires, but it works very well.
Now that I see them on the car, I'd consider Hyper Black on Silverstone II. The wheels are a bit bright with Hyper Silver, but that's ok. Dave
