Well, I decided to re-sand with 600 grit to avoid addhesion failure of clear coat.
First hand was good, in my opinion. Second hand, I increased the area, to try to "blend". But I made the mistake of reducing the flow, so it got that dusty appearence. (there is no picture of the second hand, goes straight to third hand). Third hand, increased the area again and finished the job. Next step is sanding: 1200, 2000, 3000, then polishing. |

I am going through this right now with my 2015. I took it to a body shop and the owner told me I should try to get BMW to warranty it because it should not do what it is doing. There was no reason it should start to delaminate. BMW quoted $14.8k to replace the roof and would only cover 1/2 the cost in "good faith". The body shop wants $3400 to strip and clear.

I am looking at a 2015 out in Santa Monica CA that has some spots on the roof that are starting to peel. What have some of you other guys paid to have the roof gel removed re-cleared? Also, any recommended shops out in that area or near Washington DC to have it done?
Thanks! Last edited by Jordanftw; 01-21-2021 at 07:51 PM.. |

I noticed that a few people in the Bay Area have had this work done or have done it themselves.
Any good recommendations in NorCal? |

turned out pretty good for the effort and cost. and it's been three years without any signs of "ressurrection" of the initial wear.
