I've got an amber one you can have (replaced my 18 LED with 23). Where do you live?

Any hints for getting the actual plastic bulb housing out? I can turn it (towards the outside) about 45 degrees but it won't budge or loosen to remove it outwards. I even cracked one of the twist holds trying to turn it further. Is there a clip or something on some models?
I've done exhaust mods, reflectors, angel eye upgrades, aluminum pedals, etc. but can't get a darn bulb housing out.... Thanks Last edited by nemo99; 09-02-2011 at 08:58 PM.. |

After twisting the bulb base counterclockwise to unlock it, it can take a good bit of effort to pull out sometimes. Make sure you're pulling perpendicular to the bulb base, not straight back (i.e. not perpendicular to the ground) because I think the the base is on a slight incline. If you still can't pull it out after turning the base as far as you can counterclockwise, twist it clockwise just a smidgen and try removing it again.

Thanks DavidZ. I'll give that a try but after the new socket covers I ordered come in. I may have to use a few self tapping screws to get some leverage on the one that cracked the tab on!
Geez, I thought this would be the easiest mod ever...it's starting to be near putting shorty headers on a GT 500 mustang pita (not really but still, a darn light bulb...). |

Installed mine a few days ago, the 23 led amber version, no need for sanding, just a bit of muscle strength to twist it on and off a few time. Noticed the flickering on start up and coded that off. Very happy with the outcome. Thank you to Madders and Chrisk for the clarification and videos!!

when shaving the bottom, did y'all shave that plastic piece flat or kept that small curve of it? also what exactly did y'all use to shave them down?
I ordered mine last night from Jlevisw, without knowing of this thread and other vendors. I feel some dumb right now, oh well.

Last time I attempted this mod, I could not remove the damn plastic cover. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
