I am resigned to the fact that it won't be a twin-turbo V8. But I think a tri-turbo inline 6 sounds very promising. I have the sneaking suspicion that when the new M3 comes out, as long as the reviews say it's great, lots of people will want one after all. Even if M3 owners don't really care about the rising price of gas, if the competitors are making equal power cars that are more fuel efficient, M3 owners will want their cars to be just as fuel-efficient.

I'll wait until the zcp comes out to even consider one. U know they'll make it and it sucks to buy a new one only to have zcp come out a few years later.

Any real ///M enthusiast will agree. The problem is that the strict emission regulations just won't let that be a viable choice. The e92 may very well be the last N/A ///M we see for a very long time. I know MB said they'd keep the C63 AMG an N/A engine and introduce a 5.5L boosted engine as a C55 AMG. I think Audi's RSx M fighter will be boosted after the RS5's time is up.

And he probably has epic turbo lag with that one large turbo...also Supra's are known for their HP, but not putting the power down. You cannot compare a overbuilt 2jz-gte or it's non-turbo counterpart to BMW's I6's...that 2jz-gte is legendary for being able to take 500 hp with stock internals, it's built to last. Period. It's like comparing the Mercedes w124 300CE now to the early 2000s CLK or possibly even the C-Class coupe of today...the w124 300CE was a overbuilt car (and had a nice Inline 6), and the car doors slam sht like a bankvault, even when the interior is strip out. |

Technically, if the third "turbo" is electrically-powered (as opposed to driven by exhaust gases), then it's a supercharger, not a turbo.

Are you sure? I though superchargers are powered by the motor with a belt. Not it's own separate independent unitn

So far away, who cares? Your not gonna get any juicy details until well after the car debuts anyhow? Look at the F10 M5. They are still holding back some of the engine specs. Why not just live in the now and enjoy your high revving NA V8?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Is it going to sound anything like the supercharged E46 M3 CSL in GiS7?
Go to about the 7:00 mark to listen to what it sounds like from the outside |
