I am a little upset right now they are sending me replacements. Hopefully the correct part number this time but i will be checking carefully. They also did not send me a shipping label expecting me to cover the cost of shiping them back myself. |

LOL...so they advertise the 4471's for $4.95 then pull the old switcharoo and send the wrong ones!!
They are sending me replacements. Hopefully they are right this time and they are reimbursing me for the cost of shipping the other ones back... One thing is for sure they will be getting checked carefully and make sure they are not repackaging them or something silly. To be honest I doubt the nickel plugs would hurt, although they may be a different heat range, but more than likely they won't last as long. I ordered the correct set from AMAZON just in case. I feel nad guys this is my fault!! I found them and directed everybody to buy them. Sincere apologies guys. Even though they made it right I will be complaining to Amazon for them misrepresenting the product and they will be getting negative feedback. |

So will probably attempt the change this evening and see how well the tool works. Any adjustments to dimensions should take about an hour and requoting it is less than a day if adjustments are needed. If not I think I can order these things sometime between tommorow and Friday. 2-3 Weeks for delivery to me. Should be ready just in time to ship out for Christmas I hope! Thanks for the patience everybody...ill keep you updated... Last edited by TxStig; 11-14-2012 at 07:56 AM.. |

I got dicked by B2C autoparts as well, sent the non-platinum plugs. Return was a major pain in the ass since I'm in Canada and had somebody bring the plugs back from the US for me. Reading on the internet, I found that the ECU will throw a misfire error in a hurry. The non-Pt plugs are for a smart car - don't use them.
This was also in summer that they sent the wrong plugs - obviously, they haven't learned from their mistake. I think the nickel plugs retail for about $3 a piece. |

Oh damn, how did I miss this. Is there a way I can still get in on this? I have to replace my plugs soon too and this would be a great tool to have.

Update on my order. So as mentioned earlier they sent me the wrong ones just like everyone else. I used the 'Report a Claim' and 'Contact Seller' features in my Amazon account...filled out both saying the wrong item was sent. Today(1 day later) the seller B2C sent me an email saying the correct plugs are in the mail and they sent me a prepaid postage slip to send the incorrect ones back. I will keep you all posted on how it works out. |

The Coil Pulling Tool
Alright,
First and foremost the tool was a complete success. It was a snug fit for sure so I may adjust the tolerancing slightly +.005" but as you will see in the pictures I post tommorow it worked perfectly. It has pretty much the perfect clearance to be able to get to even the back coils and still remove them the surface area is plenty to get enough leverage on for pulling them out by hand. It was also helpful when pushing the coils back on as it gave a good rest for the heel of the palm to be able to push them back in securely. Total time for me from start to finish was 1hr45mins and I took my time and didnt rush. Once I has pulled all the coils off one side I removed each plug individually and replaced each plug and torqued it before moving on to the next. The 1hr 45 mins included removal, moving and replacement of all parts involved. Being a very competent mechanic having raced shifter karts for ten years on and off, and having also spent a season with Risi Competizione as a race mechanic in the ALMS on the F430GT I may be more experienced than most. However the tool did work and did not give me any reason for pause whatsoever. If I was really trying I think under an hour would be easy. Maybe I should see if BMW wants my tool? lol As for the car...the original plugs had 42000 miles on them so they needed to be changed...she is definitely smoother and revs with more urgency across the entire rpm range and start up is smoother. Very happy with the results. I will order the 20 of the tools on Friday. Price will be $35 shipped. Once I get confirmation of ship date I will being contacting people for payment. Thanks TxStig |
