Shoot me for contributing to waste, but I had to move on from the 285/30/19 RE-050A before cording it. Nothing wrong with that tire especially for endurance type tracks but my theory is that the size is not working.
I have ~opportunity to test sizes of the same tire and I am eager to find out. After 1 day at NYST and one day at LRP, the 285 is not kaput but I am mounting the RE-050A 265/35/19 on the front to compare the two sizes |

Agree, you did pinch the wheel...
But is really instructor driving that yellow Porsche? He missed that apex by a mile lol. Probably mirror driving.

Good day at LRP with DRLane providing advice, observation and coaching from the passenger seat in the first 3 session. Last session went on my own and did back to back 60.78 and 60.52 laps.
Tires: Front 265/35/19 Bridgestone RE-050A N1 (Porsche) - very happy with these Rear 275/35/19 Bridgestone S007 K1 (Ferrari) - very happy with these. First two session my line at T-3 was too tight and @drlane spotted the issue and suggested a wider line. In addition, the rear was not quite planted and I was running 62sec laps with a passenger. For the 3rd session I dropped 2psi from the rear and we tried the new line at T3. I was immediately on a 61 pace and best lap was 60.89 - car felt great Last session I went on my own and did 5 laps under 61 seconds and 4 laps on 61 seconds and it was drizzling to boot :-) |

Speed trace an oops.
Two laps are 60.37 (brown my best lap) and 60.52 (green) Then I came much faster into T-3 I was already on the 13th lap and when I started to turn, car went straight. Hit the brakes too hard - which did not help. T-3 brown 81.2mph, green 80.9 and gray 85.4 |

Great post. Just curious, what is your optimal tire pressure on these runs?
Thanks, Dave

Paddock LF 27 (LRP is mostly right turn track) RF 28 LR 26 RR 27 Which on 62sec lap went up to LF 36 RF 36 (T-3)on the left handler, otherwise 34) LR34 RR 33 (T-3) But did not like the rear and was on 62sec laps: For 3rd session I dropped 2 psi from what ever it was at the paddock: Paddock: LF 34 RF 34 (pressure equalized at the paddock perhaps because the right size of the car was in the sun) LR 31 RR 29 best lap was 60.52sec and it was the 13th lap. Pressure reading peeks: LF 36 RF mostly 34 peek at T-3 36 LR 32 RR mostly 30 peek at T-3 32 Hope this is helpful. Generically I typically start on 28psi front and 26psi rear. I should have started that day with my usual psi. But the day was 1pm-5pm so the tires were not "morning cold" so I started higher |

Perfect! Maybe I'll run into you at LRP one of these days.

This is a very generous shared recording by Mike Skeen because unlike many of his other videos, here he is sharing the brakes channel in addition to the throttle.
By carefully studying his driving, you want to pay attention to his line and mph (of course) but also to where he apply throttle and brakes and specifically to where he gets off the brakes, when he start applying the throttle (in relation to the apex) and where he goes to 100% throttle. Another thing to pay attention to is his steering. He does not jerks the steering back and forth as some of the YT heroes. Occasionally he does, but generally he is a smooth driver. I screen scraped his video and I use Racerender to study his driving frame by frame. I find that YouTube controls are not precise enough. |

First day out of three at Watkins Glen was excellent.
Coming into the event my personal best was 2:08.83 Since this is an open day, you come and go as you please. Within the first part of the morning I did multiple laps on 2:08 and PB of 2:08.43. The next session I did 2:07.17 for over a second of PB Then another lap on 2:07.43. Tires: Front 265/25/19 RE-71R Rear 305/30/19 V720 Very happy with the tires. A note about the V720. This tire, and its replacement the V730 ran narrow which is perfect pairing with the 265. The tread width of the 305 V720 is the same as RR 265/30/19 but the diameter is OEm 265/35/19. The 295/30 is short. |

Is it normal for the DCT to seem to flare/slip a bit going into 6th under WOT? That shift didn't seem as crisp as the others.

I look forward to next year and will also try to get out to Toronto Motorsports Park a few more times before the season is over. I was happy to drop my times from 2:25 during Day 1 to 2:20.6 early on Day 2. Hot temperatures (tires and brakes) on Sunday prevented me from going any faster. I think I could get into the 2:19s if the weather cooperated.

Nice driving rhyary and a really good time in 200 TW tires. I was there as well, but don't recall running into you. I was the blue M2 in garage #11. The open track session on Friday was awesome; too bad we got rained out after lunch. Here is a vid from the very first session on Friday.

Thank you GasBurnlife(landapanda) ,
The open laps day was excellent. Nice driving yourself, my theoretical lap between the two 2:07 was into the 2:05 so there is hope for me still on 200tw tires. One day I'll try slicks and see what pace I can be on. But for now, I want to see how fast I can go on 200. Next challenge is this Sat at LRP, still trying to break 60sec after all these years :-) Where you there with Will Zaraska ? |

My idea of using all season tires for wet day was a bad idea and I admit defeat.
I may check winter tires for soft rubber, but the all season in the rain were not grippy enough to generate heat on the brakes and in turns. As a result I was driving on cold tires the whole session. |
