Official Harrop TVS1740 Supercharger Thread

For those tackling the install themselves, read through the manual a couple times prior and most importantly take your time. Lots of aluminum ripe for stripping if you force anything.

I found it best to work until you start swearing, which is a good indicator to take a break. Also, take the bumper off first even while working on the plenum install. The SC is heavy and a bit back breaking lifting it in and out 20 times trying to configure the alignment. You don't want to lean any further than already required.

Obviously take the opportunity to replace the spark plugs and idle pulley. You'll be changing the spark plugs much more often (target 7.5k -10k miles).

Great advice! I have been making a "while-you-are-in-there" list as well. Mine is fairly low mileage (~38k) but I am feeling like I may as well go ahead and do just about all the usual suspects on the top of the engine while doing the install. This is going to be fun!

I'm honestly thinking about waiting a few more weeks/months; I was thinking of helping the car out even more by buying a do88 kit and installing.

I'll have the front bumper off, so why not at that point, ya know? Cooler temps on the trans, oil, and better flow all around.

But good point on the idler pulley, I'll have one shipped and replace once I'm in there, thanks!

I replaced the oil cooler while I was at it with do88. Note you'll likely have to notch the plastic shroud to make it fit with the SC cooler. But maybe your mileage will vary. I upgraded to Do88 (oil) and CSF (radiator, PS cooler).

Wait, what do you mean mileage might vary? Mine is a 2013 with 48K on it and I thought the do88 had everything I needed; 4 parts - radiator, engine oil, DCT oil, and PS coolers.

Aside from the notching (assuming where the SC fits somewhere) your message was a bit cryptic? Thanks!

Thanks for this. I had been considering a cooling system upgrade at some point, and wasn't sure what oil cooler would work space wise with the supercharger intercooler radiator.

We've got the full do88 kit and it made a very noticeable difference, especially in recovery time. Stuck with the stock cooler for the transmission since our car is manual. The MPorium undertray also further reduced temperatures.

Unfortunately the CSF oil cooler may not fit with the Harrop, but the do88 one definitely does. We are a dealer for them in case anyone is interested.

For me- I'd be looking for a reduction in temperatures when its hot out. Definitely seems worse when I am stuck in traffic vs stock, but even at speed its a bit hotter than I was seeing last year before I put the supercharger on.

I'm basically looking for confidence in road trips to hot areas like los vegas, so I can beat on the car a bit without cooling being a concern.

I'd think that upgraded oil coolers and an upgraded radiator would help a bit in all of these scenarios.

But seriously, I agree and that was my entire point I'm making with possibly waiting a few weeks/months until I can get a do88 kit and then with EVERYTHING, take 3-4 days on the lift and just install it all. I live in a temperate area, but every bit helps.

BPMSport Mike makes a good point, I'll probably replace the shitty felt tray as well with the mporium one. I'll also be chatting you up soon Mike if you're a supplier of do88; I'll want a full kit with all 4 upgrades, might as well go full send ha.

I also want to review and discuss a meth kit, as I think this would go hand in hand with any SC. Anyone mething/water injecting a Harrop? I THOUGHT I saw someone doing it, but can't remember the setup and what is needed (aside from the kit; snow, aem, etc.).

I was CADing some things and worked out a 1" riser on each inlet to have separate injection (8 total) I could tap into, but after seeing how little clearance I think just ANY type of meth/water would help, even if it's at the front bend.

i have the csf oil cooler, and radiator. will i require trimming to get everything to fit?

I discussed possibly doing this with Mike when I got my kit as I have another vehicle on meth with a PD supercharger as well, really helps IATs ALOT, but it's a 4cyl with a single TB so entirely diff from the M3 haha... He did mention injection per cyl would be the best. Gave up on it as I don't really have the means to get something made right now. If you design something that would handle that, and could produce it, I would be interested in getting one too.

ACM did the install. had a few hiccups based on my build.

CSF cooler wasnt compatible, had to upgrade to do88
had AA pulley kit wasnt conpatible had to switch back to stock
they mentioned some finessing with my CSF rad but made it work.
EDC delete module from my clubsport kit had to be relocated to accomodate the pump for the kit.

otherwise- looks great and runs great. havent been able to get on the car as its raining here today
