I did another track day at laguna, there was a bit of spray but not as bad as before... not fully sure on how good the 3D part is at solving the problem. Might try the bimmerworld reservoir.

Yes I've ran them on the e46 M3 for awhile now. 280/650/18 and a bit larger in the rear 😉. Soft and super soft.

Ok cool, sounds like you like them then. Any feedback / comparison you can give on them maybe vs some other slicks? Are they pretty true to size? Thanks again!

if i'm grasping the concept correctly, a wider tire is supporting more of the car, so it "bellies" out less because the weight of the car is supported over a larger [wider] area. therefore, a tire that is less wide, has more pressure applied to it because it is less area, thus increasing the contact patch.

one thing i don't think the article addresses is dynamic load. downforce comes into play, weight transfer, and track banking. i can see this affecting both a 265 and a 315 tires in the same way, but at some point, variables like pressure and heat come into play, and those variables might not always be sympathetic to each other.

i could be wrong, i'm not a subject matter expert. like all things, there has to be a point of diminishing return... you wouldn't need a 315 on a formula ford or something like that, i don't think they would be as dynamic, and they would probably weigh it down and feel sluggish. on a full bodied car like an e46/e92, we have some room to grow and a 315 has more benefits than a 265.

Yokohama is the only true slick that i have driven. The 280/650/18 fits front and rear on a e92 M3. *There might be some rubbing depending on your set up. They certainly have a narrow operating window compared to a Hoosier R7 or BFG R1. I would go online to look at their specifications. They should be right on. Obviously they are more than you need for a HPDE. I am not sure what the retail price is but that stack of tires requires a nice stack of money to purchase.

Ugh, feel for you. Damage sucks but at least you were able to handle it & get here going again. Got my own personal war with them going on in my backyard after watching the biggest damn coyote I've ever seen nab a fawn not 100' off my back porch in the middle of the day - hate the sob's.

I kept driving so no pictures. Here’s a video though.

I was driving 75 mph. Looking at the video, it looks intact after the impact so I imagine it only experienced heavy blunt trauma. I’ve seen what blunt trauma can do to a human, so my guess is that it eventually died from internal injuries. Hopefully a quick death but probably not :/

Oof! Yeah this happened back in January but since I was busy studying for the MCAT and working, I held off on repairing it till after the mcat which I took on June 15.

I had a spin on wet grass. Lucky it didn't dig in and slid across the grass. That said, shitload of mud in the wheel arch and I imagine underneath. Just smash it with high pressure and be done? Rust / water in general is a foreign object here :P

I’d also try calling Bimmerworld. They ran the 6MT in the race E92’s and likely have a few

Transmission has been sounding like it had straight cut gears for years now.

Input shaft had play, seal was done and bearings failed.

Prob from neglecting fluid flushes as much as I should have early in the track days.
