At time 45.944
BRAKE PRESS velocity was 537

LF 1305
RF 681
LR 1055
RR 1139

The RF has the most amount of grip because the brake velocity is roughly the same as what the driver is requesting deriv(BRAKE PRESS) = 537

but all the other wheels pressure is fluctuating twice the velocity of the driver

All,
AIM is pushing back on making more changes to BMW_PT6. So I will not be getting any time soon option to sample at 30Hz.

In the meantime, please change your setting to 20Hz from the default 10Hz. This will be closer to what the ABS is pulsing per second.

Please send me a data file if you do.

are you looking at brake activation independently from your pedal press? there is a bunch of data in dogbone's thread on this.

Dogbone data is about the MDM braking individual wheels in a turn without the driver applying the brakes. This is braking in a straight line with BRAKE PRESS > 0.

Dogbone data was about brake pressure, this discussion is about brake pressure fluctuation per second. The ABS system can release and apply the pressure between 20 to 30 times per second. It will do so to prevent the wheel from locking up.

What's common is that in both cases there is no light on the dashboard. You can only see it in the data.

If you’re trail braking into a corner, MDM may also cause a different braking control vs DSC off though. Nobody has presented info on that though.

my theory is that if the brake pressure is pulsing at 20 times per second, the individual wheel is losing traction due to excessive braking.

It is true that the DSC will activate the brakes to regain control. But since this is a driver selected action, DSC on/off, I am not focused in that at the moment. I can easily test that.

Once I have the math channels and the profile (view) built up, I will use it when appropriate.

The next step is to see if 20hz sampling work.

I wouldn’t generalize DSC activations as being only for “regaining” control, but it could just be semantics and that you aren’t actually implying that.

Anyone with an AIM logger connected to the CAN bus:

1. Update all your brake pressure (brake press and individual wheels) to 20Hz from the default 10Hz.

2. Update all four wheels speeds to 25Hz from default 10Hz.

Anything rotating should be at least 20Hz to get velocity to work more accurately.

Velocity is rate per second and can be configured using the deriv() function.

I just got from AIM a new PT6 ECU file for testing.

AIM took dogbone data files and saw good info on the PT6 20.00.05.

The new PT6 Test3 allows for better sampling rates of the brake channels and some better Torque channels from Gabe's data file.

i will be testing this new PT6 on two LRP trackdays end of March.

If anyone wants to test earlier, I can send you a config file for your AIM device that uses PT6 Test3 ECU.

the DCT Temp is now working good at the published PT6 from AIM, so we no longer testing that value.

If anyone Interested:

I am presenting a virtual seminar on in-depth analysis of one 1:36 lap at NYST with E92 M3. Tires are RR on the rear and RT660 on the front.

I did a similar seminar few weeks ago on Pro Driver lap analysis at LRP. I had 18 attending and got positive feedback. So doing another one for NYST.

I have already 17 drivers signed up. I want to cap it at 20. But I am flexible give or take 1 or 2 extra.

Date: March 8th 2022
Time 7pm EST
Duration 60 min.

Using the new RS3A, track layout and consideration will be presented in great details. Data synced with video will take advantage of the new RS3A Analysis.

Since I have the GPS09, a 25Hz GPS, the track location is very accurate.

If you have interest, PM me your email address and a short intro and I will send you invitation. You will have to reply to my email to be included in the WebEx invitation.

Please keep in mind that this not overview or telling you the "correct" line. It is presented as information for you to decide what you want to do.

Any chance these will be recorded and uploaded at a later date? Even if it's private/unlisted on YouTube and people still need to contact you to get access.

I'd be interested, but due to the time difference I wouldn't able to attend due to work. Might be others in a similar situation as well?

While I am not recording the seminar, I already have an interest to run the LRP seminar again, and I am sure this NYST one will be run again as we are getting closer to opening day.

I am not recording because this is the first year I am doing something like this and already have many changes to the LRP one.

If anyone interested send me you email I will add you to my private list so you will get notification next time I am running one.

PS. tsk94, I already have your email.

Ok, so I have two seminars behind me.
The first one at Lime Rock had 17 drivers
The second one at New York Safety track had 27.

There was a clear negative feedback on the AIM data portion of slides and live aim data. I thought I was adding depth.

For example, presented the data that pressing harder on the brakes would not have yielded a shorted braking distance.

The data added confusion for people that don't have data loggers and don't care about squiggle lines.

Most here don't care about NYST. But perhaps care about data that is coming from the E92M3, what it means and how it is correlate to the video.

We all have seen videos, including mine, that shows the data displayed in the video. However, the data you see in the video is not sampled fast enough to really see what happens.

For example, my potentiometers were sampled at 100Hz (100 times per sec) and you can't show that in a video. In fact, for 2022 increased the sampling to 200Hz.

brakes are defaulted to 10Hz, I just raised it to 25Hz. You can't show that in the video either.

So, if there is an interest, I will peel off the virtual track walk from my presentation and will focus on AIm data.

It is free and I am doing it for fun, I ran this seminar at 7pm EST but that is too early for west cost. Please advise a west cost time that works for you. Keep in mind that my bed time is EST.

On March 29th 8pm EST I will be presenting an E92 M3 specific AIM data virtual seminar.

I will be focusing on the data coming from the PT6 ECU and how I use the information.

To register, send me a DM with your email, or if you know my gmail email, you can send me a direct email.

Unusual information to my specific car is potentiometers on all 4 corners.

Hope to see few of of you on the session

First track day of the year is not going as expected.
Lime Rock Park under constant drizzle and 50* should have been a perfect condition to my UHP All season idea.

The Continental DSW Plus 285/30/19 are doing great. You can tell the rubber is soft enough because a I am shredding it but traction in the wet is predictable and confident inspired.

But the rear Cooper UHP All season 305/30/19 is not working out. When it lose traction, it just slides like o ice and never regain the traction.

So this is not going to work.

Next for the rain is 265/35/19 and 275/35/95 Dunlop Signature HP - also UHP all season.

The Copper 305/30/19 are in excellent shape, if anyone wants the two tires for free, let me know and you pay for shipping.

It's almost as if… follow me for a quick second… running different tires makes the car more unstable!!??!

Mind blown.

Kidding aside, I applaud your persistence to keep testing this out.
