While we're on this topic of DCT software,

Does the M3 DCT need a clutch relearn from time to time? When I had my GTR, I had to occasionally do a clutch relearn to adjust shift points based on clutch wear.. Do we have to d o the same thing for the M3 DCT?

Thanks!

What do we need to do the coding? I have 2 or 3 cables from other tools, BT, a tuner etc. Don't tell me we have to buy another cable from you? Or do we? PM'ed you as interested in the GTS software and the idrive welcome delete.

PM me when you can. thanks

I can't believe some of these people pay other vendors over $1000 to code their cars. Maybe that is different than this but still $1k for 5 minutes worth of work. That is highway robbery to me. Just my 2 cents worth...

Defentatlity not five minutes of work, I've been spending two hours with each customer almost.

But you are correct, should not be so costly. I try to price everything fairly.

I only mentioned 5 minutes as another vendor had quoted me X dollars for some coding and he said it would only take 5 minutes to do.

I was going to be hundreds of dollars and the drive to vendor was going to take a lot longer than the coding itself.

Either way it sounds like you are being fair with your pricing, thanks for helping out the community!

I had Alex code some little things like euro MDM and GTS DCT also. Its sooooo different in a much better way if your DCT software hasnt been updated in years.
Alex himself is a great guy! I will keep my cable from him for any future coding needs.

LOL! I'll say!

Alex really hooked me up..... After a good 90 minutes having trouble, we discovered that my wifi extender would not pull a good IP for his software. Once we logged in on the low signal main wifi, I switched over to the extender and we were good! Aside from us using laptop 3 (we tried my newer ones first) which was not powerful enough to uncompress the files. I'd say DCT took 20 minutes or so, once we got the kinks worked out. Not including some initial time getting "connected". Coding was like 10 more minutes.....

Very impressed and happy. I'd highly recommend Alex!

PS: Use a nice new high GB ram laptop on primary router for best results....

What's the difference between coding and getting the GTS flash?

Same cable and session.

Once in, Alex does the DCT software. This takes much longer than coding. The file goes through several decompressions. Faster laptops do this faster. Shoudl take no more than 30 minutes.

The coding is then cake. Alex asks you (on the phone) what you want as he goes down the choices. 10 minutes maybe?

Coding is turning on/off hidden features in the car like folding mirrors and rolling up windows with key fob.
GTS flash is a update to the DCT software much like an engine tune but for the DCT.

Thanks for the clarification. Just to confirm this is the OEM GTS DCT software correct?

Hi Alex would love to stop by for the DCT software update, I'm getting an error message that I'm told resolves this with the update, have you heard this to be true?

error message: "Transmission range N, The transmissions automatically shifts to P when the engine is switched off. Please contact your BMW center as soon as possible.

I can run through all the gears fine but when I roll to a stop this message keeps popping up. In some threads I have read that the dealers commonly replaced a bad shifter lever but I wonder if this because they don't know its a software update? Any ideas?

Update from my last post, turns out this issue is resolved with a software update, however if you do the DCT software update, I would also have the full system software update as well so it all plays well in the sand box with each other. Otherwise you could be in for some more glitches.

Hey,

A DME update maybe, I have yet to see any car have glitches due to older DCT or older DME software. I know a group of people who are tuned or have other reasons to not updating and they just update their DCT.

The GTS file itself rarely sees a update as it is not updated with other BMW files. Some of the other files, such as the CAS module haven't seen a update in a very long time.

I think in your case, just update the DCT first.

Works perfect with any tune, does not touch the DME area so it will not effect your tune if you have one installed.

There seems to be some concern putting GTS software on a non-gts car.

This guy mentions hardware differences and that GTS DCT has larger clutch packs and more cooling.

http://goo.gl/QGy1mp

Any thoughts on the long term effects to using GTS DCT software? Probably means you'll need to change your clutches faster and/or it will cause more heat and cause it to go into limp mode fasteer?

Anyone with GTS software taken their car on the track yet?
