Personally only trust the V1. I also had a Passport 8500 and it never gave me the sense of confidence the V1 did. I would prefer 100 false alerts and picking up the 1 police officer if I'm speeding than 10 false alerts and 1 failed pickup where I get a $500 ticket. Also, if you learn how to read the V1 it becomes a very efficient tool that you will not be able to live without.

I have the 9500ix and I love it. Its reslly sensitive to Ka bands which cops/speed cams use in my city. Almost no false alarm as well

They are not legal in Virginia, California (I believe) and some other states. Check yours. There are no restrictions on using jammers in my state (Maryland) and most others. Cheers.

Hard-Wiring a V1 is the very first and frequently only mod I do to any new car. I have three installed in various cars currently and have had them on board my cars religiously since 1996.
I've gotten tickets while running with a V1 three times in 14 years, but have been saved more times than I can remember. IMO, it's the best RD on the market and while it won't save you 100% of the time, using a V1, along with proper driving tactics such as scanning your rear-view every few seconds, slowing down when approaching overpasses and checking what's coming down on-ramps will definitely help even the odds. I don't advocate aggressive or irresponsible driving, but let's face it, most owners of high-performance cars are going to open them up from time to time when the environment is reasonably safe to do so.....otherwise what's the point of driving one on a public road at all? As Mike Valentine says in his print ads.......it's all about "situational awareness". As for the 9500iX.......I'd certainly consider one if you live in an area with tons of false alarms; fortunately I don't have that problem where I live and only have one known false during my daily 35 mile commute. The V1's arrows are essential for me at this point. I'd only consider another manufacturer's RD if they begin implementing a directional alert system of their own now that CM's patent has expired on the arrows. I'm also a bit loyal to Mike V., because my first RD was an original Escort Fuzz Buster (about the size of a Kleenex box!) that he designed in the early days of RD development and it was incredible. In those days the cops hadn't caught up to RD usage yet so if you were running one of the original Escort RD's you were as close to fully cloaked as you could get with Vascar being about the only thing you could be nailed with! I'm definitely biased towards the V1 because my loyalty is to the man who invented it; a pioneer in the RD industry since the 70's. I've stuck with the V1's because they work!

3 BMWs 2 ///M cars 1 V1 0 tickets Also, on two occasions while traveling at >85mph the V1 detected stationary Leos 3/4 of a mile away. I checked it. As far as the arrows go, here is how they are beneficial. After passing a visible radar checkpoint, (decoy) the alarm went off again. So did the forward and rear arrows. I also saw the number 3, which told me there was one guy behind, and two in front, so don't resume speed yet. The guy behind me took off around me and was caught. |

A lot has been discussed in car forums about Valentine 1, or even about radar detectors.
It's not 100% "protective", but it's much better than not having one. I'm sure it saved me at least 8~9 tickets over the last 5 years i used it on both highway and local roads. And I've used escort 8500 and Valentine 1, Valentine 1 is better. (i like how people say "why buy Panassonic when there's a Sony?" lol) performance is similar i believe, and i'm not gonna waste time talking about this...(it's been discussed so much...) For me, it's just the display and representation in daily drive use i think is better in Valentine 1. Just like many Valentine 1 users, i have the detector hardwired and located on the lower front windshield. I have the sound off the whole time, which i also believe is what a lot of people do in daily use. With the sound off, the Valentine 1's arrow and number representation, along with distance markers is better than escorts' blue or red fonts during both day and night time. |

But you canalways program to turn off X band if you are really bothered by it. Honestly, when I have the sound off during daily use, it really doesn't bother me much... i jus pay attention when there's KA or K band... |

That's what I've been saying. I does not false a lot. Believe it or not. And it still retains all of its sensitivity. And it is that sensitivity that blows away the 9500ix.
But, just you don't think I'm a fanboi, there are other great detectors out there with all the sensitivity of the V1 from Bel and Escort that I would consider if I didn't already have my V1. It's just not the 9500ix. Cheers.
