Unless you consider turning and pushing the iDrive knob "major programming" then yes. See the pics in the thread for the menu item.

as it was already pointed out ... in Canada we have no choice it is the law and they are on automatically on our Canadian delivered cars.

It is for safety after all so it does not bother me since I cannot see them while I am driving

What does bother me is when I drive my car in the USA some of our American neighbours flash there lights at me to let me know that my lights are on oh well I guess I have to live with that. Some day soon it be the law in the USA as well since as I said it is safety after all.

Turn them off it makes the car slower, pulls too much energy. If you keep them on like I DO you should keep your radio off to ensure proper power is sent to the motor. , It states in the owners manual on page 652 that you should shut off the angel eyes while the M mode is engaged to get better results and optimal power delivery a gain of about 30hp.

For sure, why even have angel eyes if you don't turn them on.

I think of them as a part of BMW. It's hard to explain but like every company is unique in some way, and the halo of a BMW and the LED lights from the Audi are like they designated signs IMO

And in Canada, we have no choice whether we can turn them off or not (I think, tell me if I'm wrong)

I don't drive with them on because I do not want to do anything to draw any cops' attention to me. Just my 2 cents.

Always on!!! I get mad when I see other bimmers without their angels on. It makes me want to revoke their roundels. lol.

On a related note, I really really hope that BMW sticks with angel eyes only and doesnt start doing the LED strips like all the other brands are copying Audi by doing.

I once read an article about gerbilpower. In it they estimated how many gerbils running on a treadmill it would take to power various devices. Not sure why its coming to mind now....

Always on - I want to be seen by other drivers. HIDs on all the time would accomplish this too.

... the rear fog mod also addresses this as well.
