What you also don't know is what a lucky bastard you are!! Most of us here have been driving since before you even had a clue that you were going to have a car of your own some day. And we started with car that was worth $2000... that's $2000 dollars 18 years ago!! Nearly everyone of us would say we were a great driver back then, but we now realize that our driving skill was more luck or devine intervention than actual skill. Be blessed enough to make it to our age and you will too. Until then, enjoy the hell out of the M3 and be responsible behind the wheel. Don't be offended, don't get defensive and try to prove via the internet how good of a driver you are, just tuck it away, grin, and remember that at this point in your life, your car is WAY better than my car was at that point in my life.

You know, all kids are not inherently irresponsible driver's, obviously there are you rotten apples, but i think given the parents trust there children (for a reason) and the kid is responsible and treats his car with respect there is nothing wrong with a 17-18 year old assuming he knows the trouble the car can get him into and doesnt push his luck. Im 18 ive had my license for two years (in my e36 m3) and havent ran into any problems with the law or accidents (with the exception of one ticket, it happens). People should have more faith in the youth, not all of us have deathwishes, and some of us even inherit the intelligence and responsibility that allowed our parents to be sucsessful. On the other hands, i think parents should know if there children are responsible enough to drive a powerfull car like an m3 (and if they arent, dont get em a car). I dont street race, and i plan on going to skip barbers performance driving school this spring, because i want to know the limits of my new car (2009 CTS-V). Just have some faith in kids. |

E36 M3 < E9x M3 by nearly 200hp. Kind of a big difference.
What's this world comming to when an 18 year old wants a Caddy?!?!? It's just a personal opinion; i'm sure it's a fine car, but i beleive the limits of a CTS-V should be the caddy dealership parking lot.

And the CTS-V > E9X M3 by nearly 140hp. Oh yeah and it beats it around the 'ring too. Don't tell us you bought your M3 because it's a BMW.

Just found out tonight that my Brother-in-law has given his son (19yrs) his E46 M3. Though the young club can drive he has already been in court for a serious speeding offence and narrowly missed losing his license.
That was in an aging Escort RSturbo with 130hp tops, heaven help us now that he's got 340hp to play with. Will keep you abreasted of developments. |

I've been driving M3s since 1995 starting with an E36 and i would have purchased everyone of them even if the badge said Kia.

However, I think its the perfect car for someone my age if you only have one car. Its a very comfortable DD (that i can listen to BBC radio and the Jason Ellis Show) and its absolutely stunning on track or twisty roads. It's also perfect in the sense that this is not my first, nor will it be my last sports car (lets just call it a sports car for the sake of discussion). |

I'm 19 and I follow these opinions
Disrespect the car disrespect me so GTFO and walk. ( Someone tried to light a cigarette in my car I put it out on his arm and kicked him out on the street) Racing is for the track so I go there to burn some rubber. (Lots of fun to go to the track and try to beat your own time) Street racing is beyond words of stupidity. ( I know 4 people who have died from this GRRRRRRRRRRRR) I know how lucky I am to have this automobile and treat it with respect to the best of my ability Don't like that I have this car? Well I don't care what you think. Jealousy is a terrible thing. (Don't think I deserve it? neither do I in some ways but I'm glad to have it and love my car.) |

Buy the car when you have to means to buy it completely on the fruits of your own work. No trustfunds. No borrowing from parents. No inheritance. The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction makes every experience with the car priceless. No one can take it away from you.
I have known many instances where parents buy thier son/daughter a car, then when the child screws up (bad grades, trouble with law, drugs) said parents take the car away immediately. It's never really theirs. I doubt many young owners here will ever admit to being in that situation, especailly on this board. |

I'm in my 20s, new E92 M3, no wife to bitch at me and lovin' the single life. What a sweet car to own. I drive it like it was meant to be driven. And it always responds accordingly.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if I had been given an M3 when I was 20, I'd probably be dead. At the time, I thought that I was a great driver, and only in retrospect have I realized that I wasn't. Just not enough driving experience at the age of 20 (for me at least).
