Finally Bought My Dream M3, 48hours later "transmission malfunction"

I did buy a 2011 Corvette Z07 from Texas Auto in Webster Tx many of years ago, and I did buy the 3rd party warranty when I bought it from Texas auto, that warrenty was over 8K but the car was old with 20K miles on it, never once did I think that I was going to drop #8 exhaust valve. Causeing in a total engine rebuild, at that time I did upgrade the cam and valve sleeves to bronze and valve retainers, warrenty company had Texas Auto to fix the car, sold the car when I got it back with 25K miles. So warranty’s do work, I just bought the power train warrenty in this M3 because of the age and milage. I’m sure the dealerships get a kick back when they sell the warranty to the customers.

Lol, it’s back for sale at Texas auto, but now it has 35K miles. Beware of this car, it’s motor has been rebuilt

Okay my bad, this was the pic from when they sold it after the motor rebuild, so I bought it when it had 30K miles and traded it in back to them after the motor rebuild at 35K miles, this is a 5 year old pic that I found in google of my old Z07, sorry to the OP for jacking his thread..

How can it not be covered by warranty but fixing the sensor will void your warranty? Can nothing that's not warrantied on the car be fixed otherwise voiding what is covered under warranty?

Your more than welcome to call the dealer ship and and ask them your self, the dealership is called USA Auto Direct in Houston, the sales reps name is George, it is not a Internally lubercated part, I have a power train warrenty on this car, it’s 12 years with 89K miles on it, I bought it as is, Even told me that DCT transmissions heat up quickly. If you want I’ll even give you the warrenty info and you can call them too.

Y’all are a rough crowed, I’m not trying to make any enemies on here over the warrenty on my car that I bought, it’s a electric trans temp sensor, it is not a internally lubercated part and will not be warranted, If I take it down to get fixed and later down the road something else happenes and they find out that I had the trans pulled to have the bad temp sensor replaced they said they’ll void my cars warranty. They don’t want to be responsible for a issue that another shop caused.

this is what you should do:

1. Cancel the warranty. The warranty you purchased seems like mostly a scam and will most likely not cover anything that goes wrong on these cars. I have a third party warranty on my car but the coverage on mine is significantly better and they’ve already paid out 1.5x the warranty cost, and it would cover your issue. I didn’t pay much more for a 5 year warranty that’s comprehensive vs. what you paid for your 2 year one. I would highly, highly reccomend canceling your warranty which will most likely not cover anything. And putting it towards fixing issues or an actual warranty.

2. Fix the sensor. What shop quoted you your $2000+? It’s well known that BMW dealerships charge exorbitant prices on repairs for these cars. If that quote is from the used car lot you got your car, I would 10000% stay away… never let a shady used car lot work on your car. You need to go to a well known independent BMW shop like EMG (Houston), that has actual BMW master techs and get a quote from them.

Alright Everyone the final update!

The car is fixed and runs great.

My solution to my problem ended up being a "new" transmission. My indie shop installed a low mileage used one, and wow what a difference.

It is way smoother driving around town, its quieter (you were able to hear my transmission), and shifts fantastic. Feels like I have a new car.

Sadly to anyone who reads this, it seems the antidote is a new tranny, at least for me anyways. Luckily, you can find DCTs for relatively cheap, and installing is a breeze. It cost roughly 5k to do everything, which would of been cheaper if I purchased some of stuff on my own, like fluid, filters, gaskets, etc. The dealer is paying, so cost doesn't matter to much to me.

That’s great news, good too hear it worked out for you, I’m Still dealing with the dealer ship and warranty company with my M3 transmission issues, I told them I want to trade it in for something else or for them to fix it, ofcourse the dealership said I’ll have to come up with a huge down payment to cover my negative equity and gonna need to pay another down payment on another car, so they won’t even let me swap this car for another, I bet that im on my own, and probaly cheaper to just get it fixed, maybe gotta get a lawyer and see what he saids my rights are and what the law saids about this
