Go towards the light and save your money. It's not a good time to be buying cars or houses right now (2024).

Thought I'd revisit this thread after a while, I still think about GR86s from time to time, but I'm glad I've kept the E92 M3. It's just a unique experience that's hard to replicate south of $100k and it really fits the bill for me as a track car. It's a near motorsport grade engine and that's exceptional.
It's not the cheapest, that's for sure. I had to be honest with myself though, I'm not a weekend track rat out there every weekend. I get 3 events a year at best, so I need those to be memorable ones and this car delivers on that. Plus, with how far I've taken LFB, it feels like 3 pedals are so alien now. I'm still glad the 86 exists and I look forward to seeing more out there on track but I'm happy with where I'm at for a long while. |

I have access to a 2017 BRZ any time I want and I still think about getting a new 86/BRZ all the time. Just strictly as a daily, I don’t have the time or disposable income for a track toy. I’m always amazed at how good the steering feel is for that car despite not being hydraulic. If it weren’t for my need to daily AWD in the winters I’d have one.
Also I’ve been wrenching on Subarus for so long they’re really easy for me to maintain. Last edited by spammysammich; 03-06-2025 at 10:40 AM.. |

Yeah, it’s an annoying problem. One I’m puzzled as to why it hasn’t been eliminated. They have redesigned the pickup to make it more resilient to being plugged by RTV. Maybe that’s why they don’t adjust the dispense volume. Most Subaru guys I know that track their cars a lot know to over fill to combat low oil pressure in high G. Boxer engines doing boxer engine things. Last edited by spammysammich; 03-06-2025 at 04:44 PM.. |
