Just out of curiosity, did you ever do an oil analysis? I'm wondering how indicative an analysis is to failure. What I always wondered is, Blackstone tells people who have high lead content to change the oil more frequently and see if the lead goes down in a future analysis. So does that mean a car with high lead content (possible premature wear) in one oil change then tests lower in lead in the next oil change (lower mileage interval) cured of it's premature wear? I mean of course it'll test with lower lead since it was done at a lower interval (fresher oil) but does that mean the car is no longer suffering from premature bearing wear?

I don't think BMW would recall this because:

1.) Too few % of cars are affected.
2.) It would cost BMW a lot more money if they preemptively replaced/repaired all E9x M3's in a recall than if they only repaired/replaced the ones with an issue under warranty.

Nope, no Blackstones. I've owned the car for 22k, so about 3 oil changes. I wouldn't have had a good baseline anyway. I might start monitoring it now though, just out of curiosity, especially with the WPC treatment.

09 M3, DCT...59,000mi and counting.

I suspect it's cold starts that destroy the bearings. That's when you will get the most wear not when crushing down the freeway.

2010 6MT 53,000 miles. Original bearings. No sounds no issues. just made the switch to M1 too.

They advertise it as an automatic, but it shows a 6MT knob *lol*.

I've been shopping for a few months and dealers listing the wrong transmission happens a LOT, both ways. Another dealer near me has a 100K 2008 E93 listed as being "twin turbo" (Its not.) On the plus side, I'm getting good at identifying options from pictures.

This is true. I don't know how many times I've been to look at a "Manual" transmission car only to find it is DCT.

They try to go on about how it is like a manual... but if it doesn't have 3 pedals, I'm not interested!

09 E93 DCT 63k miles. Original rod bearings. Unless previous owner replaced at indy shop. Bought with 59k 4 months ago. No oil report done since the dealer did an oil change before selling. Engine runs strong!

08 with 111,XXX miles and my blackstone had elevated levels of lead. Going to have my bearings replaced next month for peace of mind since Im the 3rd owner. I believe my quote was around 2,500 as well.
