I'm contemplating to change my current V3 to CS 3-way and I was wondering if I'll have any clearance issues like slicer
I'm not getting any rubbing on my v3 now, so I'm guessing it should be ok on the CS too? 19x9.5 +22 with 265/30 ad08r any advise appreciated, thx!! |

Great job!!
Do you still run spacers up front? .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Unsure if compatible with ET22. I'm 18x10 ET25.

The rear of an e92 M3 is not a coilover. The spring and shock are separate. The rear spring does not in any way affect tire clearance. I didn't change the front spring rate; I only went to a shorter spring in the same spring rate that came on the KW clubsports. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by changing the rear spring.

A good combo would be a 7" spring along with a helper. Machine the adjuster from 61mm to 60mm to give you more spring choices.

I'm confused by this. The OEM KW spring is 170mm or 6.7". The whole point of doing the swap was to gain inner clearance by switching to a shorter 140mm spring. Your suggested spring would not help in that regard; in fact it would make it worse.

I don't like the length options that Swift offers. They make a 5" (127mm) spring and a 6" (152mm spring). I found that the 140mm spring was the perfect length. Long enough to allow enough travel and short enough to provide the inner clearance needed (while still using the standard KW helper spring). I'm sure that there is a way to make the Swift springs work (shorter helper spring). I went with the 140mm Eibach spring and it worked well.

That is the most ideal to maintain enough stroke in the spring. The helper can always be removed if needed. Anything shorter than a 6", coil bind is likely unless a very high rate is used.

The standard KW spring is 90nm / 170mm length with 92mm of travel The Eibach spring is 90nm / 140mm length spring with 87mm of travel You think there will be coil bind in this situation? I can tell you from my experience there is none. Now if I increased my ride height to a point that my spring bottoms prior to the shock then it would happen. But my understanding is that I only lost 5mm of spring travel by making this swap. Travel that I wasn't going to use because I don't run the car at OEM ride height. I was at least 40mm lower than OEM.

You are giving the total stroke available. However, when installed and with the full weight of the vehicle on the springs, the stroke is much less than that. |
