I sort of looked into it last night… it's a bit too structured for my liking.

I'd like a little more time between events and to take my time seeing different places. I'll take my time and do something similar with the popular tracks east of the Rockies. I like to eat well and drink beer after a track day. the "no support vehicles of any kind" rule also kills it for me.

idk if you will run into this but some porsche owners cause some damage to their stock seats. The fix was a simple velcro they sell.

I'll have to see how it sits on me in the car. Thanks.

Airfoil came today. Electronics and uprights should be here Friday. I think I'm going to mount it on the trunk that's on now and just seal up the holes form the gt4 wing. (The trunk already had some imperfections, so it's good practice for mounting)

I'm still in talks with a few European companies about carbon hood/trunks. Shipping is expensive!

schirmer doors shipped today.

plastics4performance rear and rear quarter widows were ordered today.

install date for suspension for suspension is towards the end of september. i have a road trip planned through yosemite and sequoia right after, so i'm not going to go totally nuts with the car beforehand in case i need to troubleshoot issues. mrs beef also wouldn't appreciate a gutted car.

i'm not sure if my lsd will be here by then, but it wouldn't be a good break-in trip for it.

Uprights and the wing brain arrived. Titanium tow hooks from future classic and painted caps also showed up today. These hooks yield a 14.8 ounce weight savings over oem tow hooks.

i love how light my carbon trunk is, i even drilled it for a GTS wing i show no fear.

i def want to just remove the lock mechanism and strut and just use aerocatch pins to open the trunk if needed.

Drill the hinges and cut off the strut nipples.

This thread is already costing me money. It's always bothered me how heavy that tow hook is.

It's outrageous.

getting parts through customs always makes me nervous.

the schirmer doors are out for delivery finally. paid the duty last week and didn't hear anything else for a while. i was worried because when i got my karbonius intake, they held it until i filled out a nhtsa form because it was a part for a car. nothing on the form applied to the part.

my differential from limitedslip.de got held up by customs because it had a value of over $2,500. apparently this triggers a "CBP form 5106" that needs to be filled out. something about being an importer... i called for some clarification and apparently its for everything over $2,500- never mind that i didn't have to do it for the doors or the intake... the customs worker was actually very nice and helpful. he did need more clarification as to what the LSD was. he said it looked like some kind of bearing, and if it was, there was a separate form for bearings. seriously. i explained what it was and put his mind at ease that no bearings were sneaking their way into the country.

i ordered some carbontec door cards. just blank cards that will hold the door handles. not sure what i'm going to do for a door strap, but i'm picky with those kinds of things. might not do anything. the window switches are going to get relocated to the center console somewhere.

i ordered poly windows a few weeks back. no word yet.

I've been playing with the wing on a trunk I'm going to trash. It needs to go a little bit more forward because the bases like a flatter footing. Moving it forward will also be a little more rigid and mount in a flatter part of the trunk structure. I'm glad I'm able to practice on this trunk first.
The only thing that kinda sucks is the wing hits the back windshield with the trunk open. I need to make some kind of limiting strap.

Don't you want the wing as far back as possible?

Yes, but I'm a little worried about a solid mounting location. I know it's going to change the efficiency, but this wing is already going to make more downforce than I need.

If I move it about 35mm more forward, I can do a much better job of reinforcing the mounting location underneath.

can you get a custom base made to match the trunk? this is one of the main reasons why i'm gonna do a custom chassis mount utilizing the rear fender area.

I considers 3D scanning the trunk and producing a flat plate to mount to that follows the contours of the trunk, but the problem is underneath. There is a steep slope you can see I'm starting to get into in the interior of the trunk. The nylon spacer I made works ok, but it's not great.

You'll potentially need it - it will rub against the back of the seat, my M4's seat nameplate is all scuffed from it

I hate dealing with customs. My diff was stuck for 2 weeks without any recourse.

you might as well strip the skeleton of the truck, and get a reinforcement bracket made that can also act as mounting area since its just a nut holding it in.

I'm considering some kind of triangular reinforcement that presses against the lower seal area where the oem latch is once I get a carbon trunk.

get a nice solid piece made that can stretch from wing base to wing base so it prevents flexing. instead of just 2 individual reinforcing plates. then if you can maybe you can make a threaded done as well so the wing base can be more secured + having the nut.
