Prototype Build

I am interested to the point that I am going to try and fab one in the next few weeks. Do you have the CAD file from the image you sent? Is it all the correct dimensions? I am between printing a full size image on a plotter, or buying a new one and using that as a template. Currently I am looking at 5052 Aluminum, for its corrosion resistance, and am still deciding on .63 or .9 inches thick material, weighing .9 and 1.3 lb/ft respectively. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations before I begin? |

The key is to seal the tray to the bottom of the oil cooler to keep the air flow going through the oil cooler and the radiator and not around them.

Ha. Yes. Thank you 0.063 and 0.09 inches. I could use it as a plow otherwise http://www.m3post.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif

i think the piece looks great. Im in depending on price. Im willing to pay a little more than the cost of felt pieces because this is much better and i think other people will be to. Everyone will need to replace them sooner or later. I think 063" is fine because it will still be much stronger than the felt. i got a cfds in a group buy for $1100 which is a little more than the stock piece which needed replacing anyway.

Yeah... it would cover that portion as well... It will not deflect wind like the pieces that go down. To incorporate those pieces in the geometry they are from factory would make the piece much more complex (more expensive). Right now we are trying to affordably make the flanges that direct air around the oil cooler. Want to keep the thing as inexpensive as possible while being functional.

Sign me up for these. I just tore off one of my side pieces that I replaced in December. Ugh.
